It's Adio3x's Runner. Had that pic as a background on my computer for a while. Still like it.

Oh gay. My 2' firestick is on my left front fender...I hate it there. I need to move it to the radio antenna mount. My CR8900R is on the back hatch.

If the above advertisement is an actual rigid company advertisement I would email them about royalties on the photo. It is your original work and just because it is on the internet does not mean it's in the common domain for royalty free usage.
They should compensate your appropriately for the image or cease and desist the usage of it.
Hope it becomes a win-win for everyone involved!

If its on Facebook or instagram it does mean its common domain, if you ever read the terms of use it basically says you surrender any rights to the photos and that they can do whatever they seem fit with the photos.
That's why so many professional photographers hate those mediums...

I purposely make it a point not to be on facebook, google+, myspace etc so I have not read their specific terms of use, but I somewhat doubt that A) their terms of use provide a free-for-all to everyone and B) hold it up in court.
I see this working out in a "hey it's my picture; glad you like it, but how about some fair compensation?" followed by a "yeah; we should probably have reach out out before integrating it into advertising; how's $500 or a 40inch light bar?". and everyone goes home happy.
The alternative is that Rigid risks a ton of bad PR on the forums that provides a lot of their business and possibly a court case depending on how far Andrew decides to take it. Rigid already took a risk in using a photo from an individual they have no affiliation with or knowledge on. Andrew could very well be a "serial-killer-buried-20.000-kittens-in-the-back-yard" guy and Rigid would likely not want to be affiliated with that either.
Using someones personal photo/image for profit "because it is available" is akin to as saying "because the back of the truck was open when offloading, I can walk off with Rigids lights because they were on a public road'.
It makes a great ad and I'm sure it would not be a big deal to work it out amicably and in the process maybe even creating some extra goodwill for Rigid. Just depends on how smart their marketing department is.

You caught me, I am the infamous kitten killer. lol.
Its not a big deal to me. I have gradually stopped posting pictures on FB for that very reason. In this case I had posted this pic on Rigids wall a few months ago, they did eventually give me photo cred, which made me happy. Now if it was a situation where they wanted to use my photo on their actual website and didn't notify me, it would be a problem. I'm just happy they're promoting their company with a 4runner, instead of jeeps & trophy trucks.

Okki, you might want to do some more research on that one buddy. Posting a photo on face book or the other social media sites, is akin to walking in a public area and having your photo taken there. There is no "reasonable expectation of privacy" thus most all is fair game....not all, but most.
Be safe.
