Newbie here...

Hey everyone,
I'm new to T4R and was wondering if there is a reliably cheap parts place to get accessories for my 2012 SR5. Specifically the crossbars for stock luggage bars. Also, I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on chains vs cables. Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks

Welcome!
I chose to lose the rails and go with a roof rack. A good roof rack will run you $650+ I went with BajaRack, but I understand Gobi makes a killer rack also. I believe a set of cross bars will run under $300. A simple Google search should bring up several sites that sell these. Enjoy the new ride! Post a pic.

Awesome thanks for the input...I will post a pic as soon as I figure this site out. Its a 2012 SR5 silver. Just tinted the windows alla round 20%. The second row and back windows look great from the factory tint + 20%. I was looking into a roof rack. Glad you said it...

Both companies make a killer rack. You will probably wait a little longer to get your rack from Gobi but it well worth the wait. I think I waited around 10 weeks to get mine and that was having the light hoop modified to be able to put a SR40 in there.

Congrats on the new ride though. You're going to love it!

If you just need cross bars, I would scour your local craigslist or even other forums for ones that pop up. I got a set of Thule universal crossbars with locks for $50. They fit just fine on my rails. They aren't stock, but they are also far beefier than the factory ones.

Welcome to the family Manaici22! You will love this group. Very helpful people. In that vain, let me give you some advice. Since you have a 5th Gen, I would suggest you use the search function on this forum (or regular google), just type in "5th Gen Luggage rack" or whatever your query and you will be surprised on the amount of threads in the 5th gen forum that will come up. You can find the search block here in the upper right hand corner. I am sure you will have more questions in the future, so I think this advice should help you get your answers faster......be safe.

Looks like we have the same vehicle right down to the color. This is what your truck will look like with a Baja and a set of Duratrac's. Enjoy the new ride! One note on the Baja. It may take awhile, just like the Gobi. I had to wait twice as long because the first delivery arrived damaged

If I'm not mistaken...I read a post that said Gobi's are on sale right now. They were less than $1300. I think I read that in the for sale section. I have never priced them...but from a I hear, that's a great deal?
