Snowboard Rack Recommendation for Stock Roof Rack

Searching through the forums I saw recommendations for Yakima Fatcat 6 and Powderhounds. Any advice between the two or other recommendations, below is a list of specs that might help in what you can recommend for my car:
  • 2012 Trail Edition
  • Stock Roof rack
  • Have a garage but no heigh restriction as I can take it off when need be
  • Located in SoCal if anyone knows local vendors to work with

Thanks.

I have a Thule Flat Top 6. It can hold four boards, or two boards and three pairs of skis. I've had no issues with it other than it making a whistling noise at high speeds when empty.

I was going to buy a rack but I think a rooftop box is much more versatile given I do more outdoor stuff than ski. A little more low key, out of the weather, and maybe more aerodynamic.

I was looking at the Thule Ascent series, lots of free shipping deals around like LL Bean and Amazon (Prime).

You might want to test fit the ascent series before you buy. If you have the oem crossbars and sharkfin antenna the box will sit too low and put the weight of the box on the antenna. Also the length of the box can be an issue as some will not allow the rear hatch to open fully do to interference with the rear spoiler. I had this problem with the ascent 1100. I think people have had success with the yakima skybox 16 and possibly the 18. I know it has been brought up before. I'll try and find the link when I get back to my computer.
