Hitch Hauler Exhaust Issues

Just traded up from a gen3 to a gen5. In the past I hauled deer inside with me. I don't want to continue that practice. I have decided the hitch hauler is the way to go but thru this forum have become aware of the exhaust melting coolers etc. I don't want to reroute my exhaust for clearance reasons.

I have found a hitch that inserts into the 4r hitch with a receptacle four inches higher that the hauler goes into. I have also found a replacement bar that replaces the original hauler bar and raises the hauler 7 inches. Reviews say it is flimsy and rattles.

I have also found this hauler; ROLA Hitch Carrier.

Has anyone tried these fixes or have another one?

Thanks

Aluminum flex duct and hose clamps were my solution.

I bought a Rola hitch shortly after purchasing our 2011 SR5 a couple years back. I have hauled everything from 3 coolers on it for several hours, lawn mower, deer, couple of pigs, mulch and a few other things I am sure.

The thing is VERY sturdy and made well, go with the Rola, you will not regret it.

Rola 59502 2" Steel Cargo Carrier - 2 Piece : Amazon.com : Automotive

I will try and find a few pics later and post.

All kidding aside, they make flexible exhaust tubing (I wouldn't use that drier duct LOL).

It would be really easy to clamp it over your exhaust and route it out past the carrier. Simple, cheap, temporary and quick to install and remove.

I used it before- Only it was to decorate my best friends SUV when he got married. I routed that sucker up the back of the hatch and faced it forward just like a snorkel. Best part was he had to drive immediately to BWI for his honeymoon. It sat in the parking lot like that for a week.

I'm glad that this was brought up as it would have never occurred to me that this was an issue until it was too late. Thanks.
