I have been wondering if there is an easier way to install spacers using spring compressors or maybe a couple ratchet straps?? Instead of removing all the extra suspension, can you jack up the front, pull the wheels, loosen the top strut mounts, and then just compress the spring enough to slide the spacer in? Am I missing something that would prevent this from working?

I understand that people fear spring compressors because a failure could take your head off, but if you don't disassemble the strut, that shouldn't be an issue.

Maybe the slight binding of the suspension would make re-aligning bolt holes impossible?

Thanks,
Ryan
Absolutely not. You’d have to compress the springs way too far and those autozone compressors are not designed for a strut as it is. It would take you longer to attempt that than it takes to do it right. Put the truck up on jack stands. Put a jack under the lower control arm, remove the 2 lower ball joint bolts, swing the lower control arm down. This will allow the coil over to be fully extended. Remove the lower shock bolt and swing the lower control arm lower and out of the way. Remove the 3 upper shock nuts and the whole shock comes down as an assembly.

A spacer lift with no other changes shouldn't have a noticeable effect on ride quality.

I installed a Cornfed 1" front spacer lift on my 2021 SR5 last weekend and it worked out great. Easy to install, the ride was not affected and there are no weird creaks or clicking noises. I know it is sort of a cosmetic mod but I like it, I used the simple version that goes on top of the strut top.

Before measurements was 35" from the ground to the front fender opening and 37" to the rear. After the spacer it is 36/37" and to my eye it does not look nose down anymore.

Did it help with the front end nose dive when braking? I'm thinking of doing the same thing for now.

I have read about this concern on here before but on my '21 I don't notice nose diving upon braking, not sure if it is different on different years or it is my driving style. I am actually more concerned that I can bounce up an down on the rear and get the thing to start cycling.

Went back and forth about doing the 1" front lift (Cornfed spacer) versus vs. Eibach Pro Truck lift and I'm super happy with how the 1" spacer lift turned out. It looks really great in person and no noticeable change in driving quality. And only took 1.5 hrs shop labor. New wheels and tires (275s) going on in a couple weeks.

Hello -

New to me 2018 SR5 Premium. At the risk of totally beating a dead horse I would like some thoughts/opinions.

My initial plan is to do suspension lift etc. etc. when my kid finishes school (fingers crossed). For now I want to lift/level front end and add 'better' A/T tires. I am thinking the 1" spacer for now but where I am struggling is that this truck seems to not have as much rake as I have seen on others. But I am assuming it is 100% stock.

Can someone comment on pic and confirm it indeed appears stock.

Thank you.
