Does middle seatback fold independently?

Just wondering.

On mine when you look from the back there is a seperate latch visible that is holding the middle section to the drivers side section. The armrest folds down as well but there is another latch to release the middle section.

Are you sure there's no latch on top of that arm rest section? I thought this too for the longest time, and then I saw someone here post a picture of it folded completely down. I checked my rear seat and lo and behold mine had the latch to fold it down too

bet if you look at the top driverside (rear of the center section) you will see a latch that lets the entire center section fold down

Curiosity got the best of me so I took a look at the 2010 brochure, and I think @20034RunnerV84x2 is right on the money.

For all of you guys claiming you have a 60/40, do you mind checking the top of the middle section to see if you have a latch?
