Can my 4runner pull this

ARMSLIST - For Sale: Military Cargo Trailer, 3/4 Ton

I'm not very experienced with trailers/towing, is this too big for the 4runner to pull. I would probably use it for camping gear, maybe turn it into a tent trailer type of thing.

Not without some major fabrication work - planning. Straight out of the box? No. Eventually? Possibly.

???

The specs say it weighs 1340 lbs- and with max load comes in at 2250 lbs.

Your 4Runner will easily pull that all day long.

Thumbs up

Oh hell yeah. They are not that heavy. You will need a pennel hitch to get it home but the Runner can pull it.

We would pull them around the Moto T yard by hand all the time while I was in the Military, as long as they are empty. It took two of us but can be done. Anyhow, there are guys pulling 5k boats with a 4Runner. I would not do it but they can pull it.

Of course I know it will pull the weight. You guys loved to lambast me last time I made a simple observation about weight and capability. Now we're dealing with an entirely different type of trailer hookup and stopping system...weight not withstanding.

Well- I'm not trying to beat you up here bud. The OP asked if his 4Runner could pull the trailer and you basically said "no". Just answering a question here.

As @Antman said you can do it,no problem.

Here's some of the stumbling blocks though...

1. the connectors for lights will not line up..two different specs.

2. You'll need a pintle to go into the receiver, preferably an adjustable one, and chances are to get the right height you'll have flip it upside down.

3. The trailer has surge brakes, which work...but not as much control as an electric braking system. You can overcome this by putting a new electric brake axle on..a 3" dia., which is for the most part a direct bolt up, will run about $350 from Redneck trailer supply......a electric brake controller is another $100

I've converted 2 trailers so far..both M116A2's (flatbed)

Started with this...

Ended with this..

and his little brother...

That trailer might not weigh much but it is huge. Ground clearance is real high and front of trailer will probably dip down towards 4runner it will look silly behind 4runner. I would look for 1/4 ton trailer

I completely disagree with that...

Here's the trailer behind my 4runner..before airbags. As you can see there is some sag. Two things would have corrected it.1. Airbags.. or 2. This item from Etrailer (which is how I brought it home from Long Island) Pintle Hook Mount, 7-1/2" Tall, 12K Draw-Tite Ball Mounts 63057

and this piece..Pintle Hook, Bolt-On, 20K Tow Ready Ball Mounts 63014

and if anyone ever needs to borrow it, I'd gladly lend it out to bring a trailer home.

here's a few shots....

Thanks for all the input and information. I'll probably pass for now, I didn't realize it would be and don't have the time to get into a project immediately.

Anyone in the Pittsburgh area though, I found it on Craigslist for $500, seemed like a good deal to me.

3/4 ton military trailer
