LR UCAs, 5+ Caster & Rubbing....

After much anticipation, I finally installed the LR UCAs and found a reputable shop to give me a proper alignment. Dummy me did not get a print out or write down the exact specs that were achieved, but the tech told me I ended up with +5 caster on both sides. I very much love the stability with the new alignment and clear the body mounts now by at least an inch. However, in trying to get my tires away from the body mount, I have created a new problem rubbing the front bumper cover (not the fender liner). I didn't remember reading about anyone having this issue...of course I could have missed it. Only rubs in reverse at about 3/4 turn...

The question I am getting to is do I trim the small section of the bumper cover that I am hitting with a dremel...or ask the tech to dial me back down a bit on the caster? The knobs on the tire are just grabbing the part of the front bumper cover that rolls underneath at the corner. Since I did the fender liner mod, this piece of the cover sticks out about an inch or so further...so if I trimmed it off, the rubbing issue will be solved.

Just wanted to ask before I go cutting plastic off....

Snapped a quick pic of what I am talking about

You are close enough to Bobby to get a BMC. It's cheap enough and won't take long at all. I know only because that's what I did when I was in the same boat.

BMC may be in the future...just not right now. I think I would rather cut plastic than metal for now...I don't even currently do that much off-road stuff. I just need to get rid of this rubbing to get rid of the evil eyes every time my wife rides with me...

Leave the caster as is. Get a box cutter with a new blade. Heat up bumper cover with a blow dryer until warm (not too hot or you may damage the paint and/or plastic). The box cutter should cut through like butter leaving a nice clean edge. Make sure you have a new blade!

Problem solved

Before picture is above in the first post...here is the after (driver's side)

LR UCAs, 5+ Caster & Rubbing....-img_1046-jpg

New blade on a razor knife and cuts like butter. I also moved the fender liner a little further forward by pulling it forward and making a new screw hole. I have only done the parking lot test to this point, but all the rubbing appears to be GONE. Thanks for the tips!

Just in case anyone cares...this is the piece I cut off
