Smart Key - stupid question

Now that I have my 4Runner back and fully working after I apparently caused lots of issues (fried several fuses in addition to #35 Dome and damaged the "Body" ECM) changing bulbs from incandescent to led, I'd like to know how to fully turn the vehicle OFF, short of pulling a battery cable?

I tried the method described in the manual (push starter button with no brake press until cycle into "off" mode & keep smart key at least 10 feet from the vehicle) - however this does not seem to prevent power from going to the door-triggered lights & it's very difficult to change the bulbs in the door without having the door open!

I'm certain I'm missing something... most likely the simplest solution...

Either have someone hold the door button in while changing the lights or place painters tape over the button so it turns off.
