moonroof delete/removing moonroof?
has anyone ever removed their moonroof or done a moonroof delete on the 5th gen?
i wonder if it's possible to remove all the mechanicals for the moonroof and get a non moonroof headliner. just leave the moonroof glass there (where it won't be able to open).
this is to get more headroom.

You'd be better off just unplugging the sunroof motor and just leaving it alone.. but if you're going to go through the trouble of removing the sunroof and installing a non-sunroof headliner, you might as well go the next step and have a shop weld in sheetmetal to cover the hole and seal it permenently.

if i left the original headliner in there, it wouldn't change the headroom.
a lot of my height is in my torso.

Just open the moonroof. TONS of extra headroom.

Have you tried seeing if you can modify the seat brackets?
A few members with 4th gens had similar issues and were able to lower the seat even more that stock, while retaining functionality.

Beat me to it! Definitely easier to try to make the seat a little lower IMO.

no one will do that work in california, it's illegal.
one guy said that they could possibly just shave off some of the cushion from the seat, but maybe that would make the seat uncomfortable because of less material. also maybe sitting that low with my legs almost straight might be uncomfortable as well.

What? I wasn't aware that it was illegal, not entirely sure how it could be if the job was done well? Though I suppose it shouldn't surprise me being a member of the Pansy State of Pansy *** ***** of Sissy La La Land... I mean the People's Republic of Hipster Idiots... I mean, the Beyond Extremist Brain Dead Liberal State of California. God I hate this state most days...

At least your state is BEAUTIFUL !!!!
I was in Napa, Mendocino, seen the redwoods........The great PCH !
I live in Queens, NY..... One of the LARGEST GHETTOS in NYC.....and there's a lot of "if it be free, it fo' me" animals here....the liberal nonsense is the least of my worries (although still a big issue for me).....
What do I have ? Montauk? Bear Mountain (which, btw, has gotten ghetto too)
If I could afford Cali....orange county and napa and north......I'd be there in a heart beat....... NY is such a liberal cess pool.......waaaaay worse than California.
But that's my opinion....YMMV

They're trying to pass a law so that only SMOG Certified technicans can pull codes off cars with a scantool. Granted it will not pass, but the point is that it has enough clout to even make it to the desk... One of MANY idiotic ideas from the mouths of Californian goverment officals.
But it is a very beautiful state, needs less sun though... and less hot weather... IMHO. LoL Lived in both So and Nor Cal.
Post Note-
Bringing it back to the OP. Did you already ask shops in the area about modifying the seat frame? It seems a little silly to me that it would be illegal considering the multitude of other crazy interior mods you can get away with that could be borderline 'safety concerns.'

That seems like a lot of work to gain what, 1/2 of an inch? Lowering the seat all the way down and reclining the seat back doesn't give you enough room? Who are you? Shaq?

So....you can lower a car to the ground so it scrapes the pavement....but you can't lower the seat....genius! wtf?
