Post-lift CV angle

Hey guys, did a search but couldn't find much in terms of 5th gens...

I'm worried my CV angle may be too extreme after getting my lift installed. You may think the front is looking higher than the rear--because it is. The 700 lb spring upgrade (vs 650 regularly) on the coilovers means it doesn't settle as much at first, but it will drop for sure after I add the shrock bumper, winch, and dual batt... Probably about 250 pounds in all (all about 2 months down the road).

Here are some pics of my truck overall and the CV shots.

What are some recommendations you guys may have?

Your cv boots are touching fins - they won't last long like that. When the boots fail, it will be a short time until the joints fail, if the stress of those angles don't get them first!

Gotcha... So how long is "not long" and in your opinion should I try a diff drop or lower the level of the lift?

I have no frame of reference on the diff drop - my opinion isn't worth squat. I've read on the internet that diff drops for Toyota's are a waste of time...

Those are Icon coil overs right? If yes, then I would drop the lift down with the coil overs and get the alignment checked and call it good until you add all the weight on there.

Edit - Not long, like a couple thousand miles max before those boots eat through themselves. If you get under there and look closely I'm sure you will be able to see wear rub marks on the boots.

Any of you guys think 2 months of regular non-abusive highway driving would do them in? Trying to avoid paying to get this changed again, only to be changed another time after the weight.

I can't take it back to the shop saying they messed up bc I told them to set it at 3".

Yes, icon ET coilovers with remote resi's, CDC, and 700 lb spring upgrade.

find yourself one of these, sooner rather than later, turn down your coilovers an equal number of turns on each side, then go get yourself an alignment. Once you get all the extra goodies, just crack 'em back up. easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

Yes - i think two months of regular highway driving could do them in. You certainly can take it back to the shop that did that, you should have never been allowed to leave with that. Any shop that knew what they were doing would not have done that.

That seems excessive contact for a 3" lift - did u measure before and after?

I'm betting they took the coil overs set as Icon ships them set up for 2.5" lift and then swapped to the heavier coils. If they did that your actual lift would prob be 3.5-4", which is what I would expect w/ those CV angles.

Don't think about it, take it back tomorrow!

They came from Icon with the heavier coils already installed.

Did not measure before and after, but using Okki's baseline numbers I'm wayyyy higher post-lift in the front. I told the shop to set it to 3" lift and was very particular about things, mostly the alignment. I didn't think to inspect the CVs until after I drove it home, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure the shop is going to see as a "this one is on me" kinda situation.

What's weird is other guys have gone to 3" without this much issue. My inclination is it's MUCH higher than 3.

I went with icon tubular UCAs.

The shop should have told you about the problem regardless, no excuses there.

Measure the center of your wheel to the bottom of your fender on both sides and post those numbers here.
