Yous' guys are funny (insert Baltimore accent)!

Ya- Things are coming along nicely! I guess the horse pills (antibiotics) 4X per day and the rest is working. Thank goodness...

The hole is healing up a lot quicker than I thought it would. It seems like every bandage change brings better and better news. I'm on Vaca next week as well so hopefully I will be 100% before returning to work!

Not too gruesome pics...

Glad you're doing better! It definitely looks a lot better! Enjoy your well deserved (you deserved the vacation after getting that bite, not the bite itself, to clear that up) vacay.

IANAD...

What about the wound vacuums they use on MRSA/VRSA patients?

Would those increase healing times in this situation?

Damn Jeff, thats nasty. The new pics look like an erupting volcano viewed from space. Gross! Get well soon.

Next time you need to snuggle with Pat in the ROAM to avoid spider bites.

...and maybe we should trade handles. You can be SPY(der)45man and I'll change to Ant45. Don't ask me what the 45 means, I'm too old to recall.

Wow, that's crazy. Glad you're well. I must say, one benefit to living a little more north is we don't get that crap around here. Usually I see potato bugs, harmless spiders, and the odd ear wig or centipede (small ones).

Southern Ontario, where I used to live, has a climate/topography more like the mid-Atlantic states and northern Carolina's in the summer and the bugs are definitely more intense and more disgusting there. Fortunately, most of Canada and the northern US is frozen solid for 2 or 3 months of the year, giving few weird bugs any chance of surviving.

I am not a wound care doc, but it has been my experience that the wound vacs are usually used for chronic non-healing wounds like those seen in diabetics, para/quadraplegics. They can be used in the acute setting for wounds requiring surgical debridement, necrotizing infections, reconstructive therapy. I think there is some fairly strict criteria to get insurance to cover them as well. In this case, the wound is healing up and doing well with current treatment and his symptoms are getting better....so it probably wouldn't help too much and may reduce his mod fund.

Tons of Mosquitos here.... Probably much more than you would see. However, once you cross the border, polar bears don't magically appear. If you fly a thousand miles north you may find some though! 90% of Canada's 35 million people live within 100miles of the US-CDN border. It's a very east-west country here whereas the US is more north-south.
