I am sorry man, if you’re talking about the rims? I pretty sure 8”+ would definitely rub. Tried wheel spacers before 1.25”. A lot of rubbing with 3.7 of caster. Took them off.

Best set up I have found so far

Saw this thread and had to chime in.

Everyone knows the 5th gens don't do well with big heavy tires but everyone wants to be an overlander!

I have done it so many ways with so many sets of tires. 265/70/17's, 285's 33x12.5x17's, street ply, 8 ply, 10 ply.

The set up I have is hands down my favorite and I don't have to sacrifice almost anything.

Current set up:

Wheels: Gear Alloy Manifold 17 inch with a -12 backspacing (key for the look)
Tires: Falken Wildpeak AT P285/70/17

Only running a 2.5 inch front lift with a 1.5 in the rear. Zero issues with rubbing.

Love the because they are lite but still off road capable! Keeps the truck from being a tank!

*noob here* excuse my dumb question but is there ever a reason to not put 275/70/17 k02s on a stock 2010 TE rims (fj looking ones), or would I have to upgrade to aftermarket rims because of offset issues or something to that nature that im not aware of? *will be trail running and airing down the tires*

Because they only give you about 1/2” more ground clearance than the stock 265’s but weigh a lot more and rob power and MPGs. They will fit just fine though.

Well yeah, the rubbing thing is largely a non issue when you don't have any front fenders.

Is there a huge difference in 17x8 vs 17x8.5 rims when it comes to upgrading for example to a k02 285/70/17 tire? obviously stock trail rims that I have are at 17x7.5 and are potentially sketchy with 285s so would a full inch be the better than going half an inch with 17X8 when upgrading? Cost difference is a few hundred at most.
