I bought the car in Denver. Mountain States Toyota gave me the absolute lowest price up front. You can ask for Matt. I live in Houston so I had to fly there then drive it back unless you want to pay $1200 for covered transport. I pretty much shopped around that area and pitted the dealerships against each other, see if they would negotiate knowing another dealer had a lower price. But MST wouldn't budge (they also don't have dealer fees), which makes sense since they offered the lowest price and no one else could match. If you're not looking for KDSS you can go elsewhere but Texas holds these builds for ransom and wont go below MSRP, hence the Denver route.

Finally getting around to posting the price I paid. Bought last day of January 2020 in Richmond, Virginia. 2020 4Runner Limited - MSRP of 48,177.00. Had additional dealer markups of 398.00 for environmental package and etching. Traded a 2017 Subaru Legacy. The dealing started mid January. Couldn't get the price I wanted for my Subaru. After several back and forth phone conversations the dealership finally agreed to my asking price. They gave me 17K for the Subaru Legacy. They sold me the vehicle for invoice 45,279 minus their markups which came in at 44,881. Had to complain about the pricing twice; pricing was above invoice and the dealer markups. I also pulled a total rebate of 1250 since I used the mid Atlantic and Military rebate (allowed stacking). So everything breaks down as follows:
2020 4Runner: 44,881
Dealer Markup (trash): 398
Total: 45,279 (was actual invoice)
Processing Fee: 599
Title Tax: 1852.06
Dealers Business License Tax: 53.73
Filing Fee: 17
Registration / Title Fee: 55.75
Total Delivered Price: 47,856.54
Rebate: 1250
Out the Door Price: 46,606.54
At the end of the day I was able to get 6.01532% off MSRP without adding in the rebate. Adding in the rebate the discount came to 8.60991%.
The deal really hinged on getting the most for the Subaru - it had been in the body shop due to hail damage. There were a few small issues with the repair thus I was ready to get rid of it.

2020 Limited
I am trying to negotiate the best price over the internet for a 2020 Limited 4wd with several options.
the best I could get was about 8.5% off msrp + taxes and title fee.
I tried to get 12% off msrp but none of the dealers budged, especially since the one I wanted was out of state, and the local dealers dont have the same configuration.
not sure how some people are getting over 10% off msrp on limited??
I am in Michigan

$43,388 in Kenosha. Pretty close to 10%. Try Arlington Toyota. Had good success with them in the past. They beat CarMax when I bought a new 2007 Tacoma.

Looking for 2020 Nightshade in PA
Hello,
I am newly attracted to these beast 4Runners. Where i live i don't really need the truck like 4runner but i really love it would love to get one. I have never owned to truck before so please pardon my ignorance.
I am deciding between Limited or NightShade. Can anyone give me idea of what i should pay OTD for these two trims?
MY quotes: NightShade = $48,879 OTD

I just picked up a 2020 4WD White Nightshade with All Weather Mats, LED Illumination Package and Nightshade Running Boards. Here is the OTD price I got with a trade in. I also noticed while shopping that the Nightshade package did not cost any more than a regular Limited.

It's not bad. I guess my price does look good off by $500 or so if i don't consider the trade. I wanted to trade my honda odyssey van. Do you think Dealers would give better than private sell?

Selling your trade, on the street vs. to the dealer, will really depend on what the dealer offers first. Never negotiate or mention your trade, until you have fully negotiated the numbers on the new car first.
I traded in my 2016 T4R LTD. I could have probably netted another $1500 or so selling privately, but didn't really want to deal with the time involved with it. Also, keep in mind any tax savings if you live in a state that only taxes you on the net sale, if a trade is included.

Quick question: what does the LED Illumination Package include?

It was the best price I could get in my area. I had to have them request an allocation to get it with the options we wanted. We did not want a 3rd row and that made it hard to find one sitting on a lot.
I was happy with my trade value. I wanted 4k over what I owed and we got pretty close to that. I might could have gotten another 1k-2k in private sale but it wasn't worth the hassle to me.

Not too sure how it works in Alabama, but in California you do not pay tax on your trade in value. With a 9% tax here on your 22k trade, it would have saved you an additional ~$1900 in taxes alone on your new 4runner, since you got $22k reduced from the price. I always consider this factor when deciding what the trade in price is being offered vs selling private party (and dealing with that hassle). I would bet heavily that Alabama sales tax is no where near CA's, but still some additional savings to think of regardless. Enjoy your new ride.

Some states (AR/MO and others) give you the credit if you sell to a private party too if the sale and purchase happen within a certain time frame (90 days for example). It makes sense, but other states won't do it. I paid tax on the first vehicle, the person purchasing it is being taxed again, so give me a break on the new purchase...
