Today we bought a Magnetic Gray 2020 SR5 Premium 4x4, with moon roof and 3rd row from Daytona Toyota (FL). The only add was the Southeast Toyota phone cables for $73. MSRP was $43,188. Our sale price was $38,000. Approximately 12% off MSRP.
I'm not sure how much OTD numbers matter to this discussion. Dealer fees and taxes vary quite a bit, from state to state. For those who are interested, our OTD was $33,864.67.
We financed through the dealer with Space Coast Credit Union for 36 months at 1.89 (we were pre-approved before going to the dealer).
Since this is a Toyota-centric audience, our trade was a 2006 4wd quad-cab Tacoma. It runs good and the interior is relatively clean, but the exterior not great. With 255,000+ miles, we still got $7,500 for a trade value. I had taken it to Carmax for an appraisal prior to visiting the dealer, and they'd offered $5,000. So I figured $7,500-8,000 might be a good private party selling price.
All in all, our experience was relatively straight forward. We knew exactly the 4Runner we wanted, we'd already had our trade appraised and we were already pre-approved. Between the TruCar offers I received and the sale prices being shared on this thread, the negotiation only took a few minutes.
Thank you to all who have replied to this thread! Your experiences definitely helped with our purchase.
Now on the the fun stuff...lift, wheels, tires, nerf bars, etc.
