$50k? That’s TRD Pro prices! I’m in the PNW and I’ve been messaging dealerships for an ORP with KDSS since late June and it seems like inventory levels are stabilizing again. The best deal I’ve gotten has been $41,750 (before national rebates and TTL) for a car that’s $45,644. That’s about a 10% discount after the current $500 off rebate and I have another dealership seeing if they can beat $41,750 by $500.
My advice is to expand your search to a 500 mile zone and email every dealership that has an ORP with KDSS. Even though you may want a car in specific color, email every dealer regardless as you’re really just looking to get an offer at a great price that you can use to compete with dealerships that have the exact car you want.
Some didn’t want to play ball but I was able to start getting unofficial discounted prices in email. Once I got an offer for $43,800 for a car at $46,889, I told that dealership to draft up the official “motor vehicle purchase agreement” form. With that form, I really got the ball rolling and sent that form to every dealership and asked if they could beat it. Rinse and repeat.
Just remember that as much as you need to be incessant in getting the best price you should also be respectful and courteous. I think being someone a salesperson wants to work with goes a long way.
