[Off-Camber]

For those looking to re-gear. I'm sure others have posted but figured I would add my review.

Vehicle:
2012 4runner with 3" Dobinson's lift, extended travel front and Long travel progressive rate coils rear on 275×70-17s. Dual swing out rear with about 700-800lbs. Front bumper with accessories at about 350-400lbs. Full steal undercarriage and gas tank skids. Roof rack with awning, Roam box, 8g Waterport, and Tread Pros.

Regeared to 4.88s. I'm still in the break in period but so far the gas mileage is better and the gear hunting is almost none.

I drove 4 hours to ECGS to let them install. Communication was excellent. Reception at their facility was excellent. Waiting room could have been a little better for people willing to drive longer distance for the install, although still hospitable.

So far the gears are excellent i had one slight install problem. As I was making the 230 mile trip home I kept hearing a grinding noise while low speed turning and Hi pitch break squeel when reversing. At my first 50 mile "break-in stop/cool down" I started diagnosing. I carry a torque wrench and tools in my drawer. I decided to torque all wheels. All were good except the driver's front. Only 1 lug nut was snug, but not torqued. Torqued all 6 lugs and all noises went away.

I think this could have been catastrophic, but at the same time realize how it could have happened with multiple people working on the same vehicle.

In retrospect, I would and will go with ECGS again or in the future. Their work is top notch. I chalk it up to miscommunication between workers for the lug nut issue.

glad you made it safely home. I'm regeared to 4.88 w/ nitro's. I have a slight whine that never went away. Hopefully, you won't have any whining issues.

Glad to hear ECGS is still providing good service. My 4.56 are still running quiet and solid after 80K miles.

How much did it end up costing out the door price?

I recently had ECGS rebuild my front and rear diff on my 4th gen. It was a special case as I was swapping out the rear to an 8.2" diff and housing from a 5th gen.

Rear geared to 4.56's and added ARB air lockers front and rear. I don't live close to ECGS, so I had them ship out the diffs with the expectation that I would return my current ones as cores.

ECGS was very helpful through the whole process and the only issues I encountered post install was vibrations between 60-75 mph. I rebuilt my rear driveshaft with new spicer ujoints and the problem went away.

I would highly recommend ECGS and will use them again.
