I wish there was some way to trade you my factory sunroof, I did not want it and never use it, but buying a new TE off the lot in 2012 I had no choice.
I very rarely even open the shade. I would rather have metal over my head than glass. Not to mention the maintenance issues.
My wife had a Lincoln that we bought used that had an aftermarket sunroof, it was not really all that bad but no where near as good as factory and it was supposed to be adjusted every year or so for about $80 bucks. I only had it done once.
It never leaked water, but the blow dryer at the car wash would push it open enough to let air blow in.

^^I agree. I never even open the shade as it's so blazing hot and sunny here most of the year I want to be in the shade, not the sun. I wish the TE had an option for no sunroof. But, because I hardly use it I hope it wont be an issue down the road.

Aftermarket panoramic sunroof???
Yo first post. Got a ‘22 TRD regular ‘cause I wanted cloth seats.
I dig the sunroof idea tho maybe have ‘em throw in a factory. Before I do that, has anyone heard of or seen anything about aftermarket or retrofitting a pano sunroof?
Thing drives like a hovercraft.

I gave up on that idea back in 2013 when my truck was new, 9 years ago. It's probably not wise.

I can think of no pros for a sunroof, other than an alternative exit in an emergency.

I heard that the sunroof takes like 2” away from your headroom, though. Is this true?

just thinking out loud:
might a pano sunroof cut into a roof not designed for one compromise the structural integrity should you get in a roll-over accident?
my guess is probably.

I'd say more like 3"... Eventually I'll probably trade my 4runner for one without the sunroof, that's how much I dislike the thing.

I'm the OP. I was seriously considering getting an aftermarket sunroof when I started that thread back in 2013, weeks after I purchased my 2013 used, but less than a year old. I know some people here do not like sunroofs, but I do. I went as far as calling the local installers of a couple of brands of sunroofs I was considering. The price back in 2013 was about $1000 installed. I'm sure it's more than that now. I came so close to pulling the trigger but decided at the last second before making an appointment not to chance it. I'm glad I didn't. That link on my OP to one of the sunroof manufacturers now takes you to an insurance company, so they may be out of business.

I'm 6' 2" and have plenty of headroom with the factory moonroof.

I'm not sure to be honest? They need to reinforce the opening to install the sunroof frame properly I would assume (if they didn't that worries me even more...) So that might make up for it... but I have only seen like a handful of aftermarket sunroofs on Toyotas.
