Arrow Tires Guide

ok I need some help starting a tire guide. ill used 17'' rims as a start point. limited guys most of you get new rims any ways. but here is some info Finally Wider A/T Tires for Stock Limited Wheels!

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

265/70/R17 stock

P265/70R17 is typically smaller (by upto 1") than LT265/70R17. the P265/70R17 Geolandar A/T-S as its a tad wider and tad taller than stock, and considerably wider at the tread.

255/75/R17.BFG/MT/KM. will require inner fender liner mod. Running stock suspension.

275/70/R17 The biggest tire that will fit with no rubbing.

285/70/R17 will fit with some lift with small rubbing. but with a full MT you'll get a lot of rubbing.
285/70/R17 MT will fit fine with a full lift. you'll need to do a small trim or mod.
This is assuming stock wheels or wheels that match stock width and offset. Add spacers, wider wheels, or greater offset and you'll get crazy rubbing all over the place.

original rim has a +15mm offset and the original tire is 265mm wide. I calculate that the inside face of the tire is (265mm/2) - (+15mm) = 117.5mm "inside" from the mounting pad plane.

The "new" 285mm tire mounted on a +12mm offset wheel would sit at (285mm/2) - (+12mm) = 130.5mm "inside".

The difference between those results tells me where the new tire will end up, on the UCA side: (130.5 - 117.5) = 13mm closer to the UCA. (A shortcut to this result is that the tire is 10mm wider on either side of its middle plane and the new wheel protrudes 3mm less outside.)

Rims with a bigger offset then stock will affect tire width up to 1/2 on the inside. (after market vs. stock)

Info with body chop and info on 285/75/R17. 295/70/R17. 305/70/R17. and if any one as something bigger way in.

Don't forget the 275/70/17 as a lot of guys run those too. That is the biggest tire that will fit with no rubbing. With 285's of any type, minor inner fender liner modifications are normal for getting rid of rubbing. Also resetting your caster is helpful too. If you want after you collect the data I will tabulate it and put it into Excel for publishing.

good info to remember, so this tire is wider than stock but same height(?!).....will help 'balance' out the "protuding" front headlights of the 2014 4runner which does not go well with the stock tires, aesthetically speaking, depending on the camera angle - the front face of the 2014 is too strong-looking for the stock tires.

Check tirerack.com specs for the exact dimensions. P265/70R17 is typically smaller (by upto 1") than LT265/70R17. I went with the P265/70R17 Geolandar A/T-S as its a tad wider and tad taller than stock, and considerably wider at the tread, but only 2lb heavier per tire.
