It's just you. A lot of dealer pukes are dumbsh!ts and don't know how half the stuff works. You should have heard the answer I got when I test drove a 2013 in May and asked about Party Mode...

Well at least you can turn ATRAC off but I know what you mean and I do agree.
Regardless of your feeling towards my Apple comment the problem being customizable user interfaces, THAT is what people like. You know having preset seat positions, custom climate control for either side front/back of the cabin, user defined radio stations, ect, ect. [sarcasm=ON]Letting the user decide how they want it to work how stupid is that.[sarcasm=OFF] The system is certainly smart enough, Toyota has it available to some extent. Just one step further.

LOL funny you just so want me to be a smart ass.
To help keep snow/ice from building on it. Besides it often defogs just fine without running the air conditioner, uses less gas too, and doesn't directly rob power from your drive train. Of course maybe if you live in a high humidity area, which I suppose maybe 1/2 of the north American continent qualifies for you'll need it, on the other hand that other half is pretty dry

If you mash the skinny pedal you won't "female dog" as much about how slow the 5th gen 4R is

Yep, most dealerships don't know jack about the actual features of any of their cars honestly. I initially was 100% turned off from a 5th gen 4R because the salesman told me I could only get them with either a 3rd row or a slide-out tray (i.e. no option to have NOTHING), and that stuff like that was usually a gimmick for Toyota to make money.
Same dealership, when I test drove an FJ (just for fun, it was after I bought my 4R), the sales lady didn't know if it was a V6 or a V8. I knew but I asked just for kicks. She just talked the entire time about how it "felt" smooth driving. Now if I ever go test drive a car at a dealership I politely ask the sales person to remain quiet so I can experience it all for myself.

yeah i am not a fan of it either since it engages the compressor which has its +/- points. keeps the compressor lubed in the winter time, but also robs a bit on mpg.
toyota has been doing this for a while if i remember correctly, since early 2000's?

Regarding dealers/sales force going over things...my salesman told me that "two wheel drive is a diagnostic mode for the techs and that I should run in 4wd mode cause it is safer". That is when I realized it was time to go so I said thanks for the tip and finished up and took off...in diagnostic mode lol!!

I thought the two images were off the rear window and rear 3/4 windows, which also defrost. I'll have to take a closer look, though.
But yeah, typically mirror defrost is actuated the same way. Wasn't sure this truck had 'em or not. It would be cool if the windshield washer nozzles were heated, too. My other car has those.

Well I feel remotely bad now. I had the hour long session where everything was set up, entune was programmed and registered to my phone, and all the buttons and features were explained to me. Breakfast was even cooked for me with some Marley espresso.

Intermittent wipers
On my 2014 LE, the intermittent wiper graphic is opposite of most other cars. The "wide part" of intermittent (dial rotated all the way up) produces the shortest interval between wipes, while showing the widest part of the "intermittent graphic".
In all the others cars I can remember, it was opposite.
Odd, ha!

i didnt have time to waste 1-2 hours extra at the dealer. nothing against them, but the warden was getting grumpy from being cold inside the dealership and i wanted to get the garage opener programmed before i went to bed due to the negative temps the next few days. we were pushing past 7pm as it was and still no dinner/supper.

I noticed this too.. Also noticed that the rear windshield wiper when you turn it one notch, goes into constant wiping mode, but is marked interval (or something like that) ... you have to first turn it 2 notches and then back to one notch above off for it to only swipe in intervals... STUPID

I will have to check that out! I've not used my rear wiper yet, to be honest, I've been driving a sedan for so long, I forgot about rear wipers!

I believe that when you first place it in INT, it performs a several wipe cycles, and then goes into intermittent mode. Which is different than most vehicles - it will stop at full travel sometimes, and then swipe back across the rear window. When in intermittent, it will also go full cycle when in reverse. Another thing that is not obvious, there are two wash modes one at the top, which spring returns to full cycle, and one at the bottom which spring returns to off. The one at the bottom sprays, then performs a wipe cycle, then hangs out to catch the drips, wipes once more, then stows.
