XREAS leaking @35k :(
Well I knew it would happen one day, but not this soon. I'm just over 35k and my front passenger shock is leaking oil. Of course I'm just outside of my warranty period. Well it looks like I'm going to be looking into some new shocks . Probably going to do Bilstein 5100s…Wasn't looking to spend any $$$ right now, but it looks like Murphy decided to visit!

Bring it in and see if your dealer can get it covered under goodwill. It's way early and a super expensive system to go that quick. If you're close to the expiration time wise, being under 36k should help your case.

Relatively speaking, yes - for the road conditions he's driving on a daily basis, not that surprising to me. When u live where the definition of high ground is anything not below sea level its difficult to maintain smooth roads.

Yeah, less than 6 months out of warranty and under the mileage cap... I'd go in there and give it a shot. Can't hurt, that's for sure.

Being from New Orleans I should point out that normal streets in the city simulate the Baja 1000...hope they goodwill the repair for you.

I grew up in Louisiana, lived mostly in Baton Rouge. One of my best friends in high school lived off Livingston St (just off Bonnabel). It wasn't just the conditions of the streets that surprised me when we would go to NO, it was how quickly the streets deteriorated. One day I was at his house when they were getting a couple of truck loads of dirt dumped in the yard. I asked, "what's going on? About to put in a bunch of new flower beds?"
"Nope, just raising the yard back up from where it sank. We have to do this every 2-5 years."
Then I understood.....

If it makes you feel any better I popped my front passenger side shock in under one year and less than 10k miles. The only reason I am not as upset is because I discovered this while I was installing new 5100s, lol.
I guess all it takes is hitting that one wrong pothole the wrong way
Good luck with the good will warranty claim!

If nothing else, try negotiating for warrantied parts and pay the dealer for labor. You really should get something...

I have had both my front and rear XREAS shocks replaced.
It's not uncommon. It's just unfortunate that you are out of warranty.
Extended warranty ... Just saying
