What rear springs work best w/ KING SHOCKS?

I'm gonna be getting king coilovers and rear shocks soon along with their comp. adjusters. I was wondering which 2" lift springs would mesh the best with this set up?

Thanks for your feedback!

Dealer only makes leaf spring packs last I checked. They will take an order for custom coils from you but they contract the coil mfg out to Coil Spring Specialties

My recommendation... Stay away from custom coils unless you have something truly unique going on. OME, Metal Tech, Icon, etc all make great springs. For an all around great rear spring I would recommend the Icon spring. Mine ran great until I added another 350 lbs to the rear of my rig with a bumper, aux fuel tank, tool box, etc.

Also, I think you are going about this a bit backwards... Think, fit the spring to the vehicle then fit the shock to the application. Are you running armor, skids, bumpers, sliders, big tires, little tires, do any off road driving, if so, what kind, etc.... Sorry for the rambling run on sentence but those are the questions you need to ask yourself... Pm me if you have any specific questions.... I have been down this very road before with those rear shocks.

Yes, Thats exactly what I did. I went through Deaver for my custom CSS springs. Went custom after I outgrew the Downey and Icon springs. The CSS springs are perfect for my current setup.

For OP, figure out what it is that you're going to do with the 4runner then get the springs to match. The CSS springs cost more but in the end will be less then going through 2 sets of springs like I did. Now If you plan on running close to stock weight then Icon would be a great choice.

Thank you so much guys for your input!
Yes I'm sticking to a mostly stock set up with 285's. I don't plan on running bumpers or anything of that nature, rock sliders at most. So I was thinking icon or toytec springs...

x2

i went with CSS coils as well in a 1" over stock setup ( spring rate matched the 2" ICON coils they replaced)

Why only 1" and the same spring rate of an icon?

Some people like the higher load carry capacity of a stiffer spring but not the additional height that comes with it. Some want that "leveled" look without having to go overboard lifting up the front end. Different strokes for different folks

Have you sat down and checked out this thread from front to back? Post your LIFTED pix here!

I highly suggest you first figure out how much total lift you personally want to go with and if you want to "level" out the rake; then starting thinking about what specific springs to get.

Basically, you don't want to first settle on a 3" rear spring only to realize you want to also level out the rake because you're going to end up with the front end having to be waaaaay to high up to level it. Same goes for the other way around, you don't want to end up with only a 1" rear spring only to realize that you want to keep the rake, then you won't be able to raise the front that much, lol.

Once you have that basic idea down, then you can start comparing spring rates and heights to fit your application better. Like @SOcalTRAIL said, it all depends on what heavy add-ons you plan to have on the truck. Great example is, while his rear springs only give him ~2-3" lift, if you took his rear springs and put it on a stock truck, it will probably end up with a 4-5" lift, lol.

If I recall correctly, I think most of the OME rear springs are all a bit on the stiffer side, so if you like the softer plush ride, you should probably stick to another brand. They might feel a bit too stiff for some unless you like it like that, or if you plan to have a lot of constant weight in the rear.

I have the Sway-A-Way rear coils (like a lot of guys here) and IMO, it's just right in stiffness and you end up with ~2" lift. Great spring for a truck without a heavy rear bumper and/or hefty cargo drawers.

Exactly. Most coilovers allow for 0-3~3.5" of lift upfront. KING does
not. They recommend a maximum of 2.5". I went with a 1" higher rear coil (which gave me a 3" rake before the kings) and then had the kings at 2.5" of lift upfront. .5" of rake is negligible, especially considering that's unloaded. Camping gear levels it out perfectly.

Updated reviews for the CSS coils?

I'm planning to purchase Fox suspension 2-3" adjustable fronts and rears, the front are coil overs and would like all 4 to be at 2.5 but icon and others only make 2" or 3".

My application is daily driving with occasional off road and some off grid camping.

Front will be stock bumper, skids, dual battery a hidden winch plate plus the actual winch.

Rear, stock bumper with a hitch basket and camping gear, occasionally towing a trailer, very very occasionally.

Recommendation for rear springs?
