14s highway cruise speed
2014 owners, what would you say is a comfy highway cruise speed on your rigs?
Is 80-85 comfy or unstable?
During my test drive was unable to reach above 65ish

80 is fine, MPG suffers, CHP doesn't like 85.

I tested mine on a Texas interstate at a legal 75mph. It was fine and stable. A little more affected by wind, and needed more attention to hold the line, but I attribute that to the shorter wheelbase and narrower track from the Tundra I traded in.

Mine handles great up to 85. I assume the KDSS helps a little bit but I don't normally drive that fast. i-25 is 75mph and straight and no problems. I do feel that this model is more under-powered than the 4th gen mostly based on the weight increase so getting to 85 most times is the inefficient part. Couple that with a good headwind and good luck. Recently had 60mph head winds in Boulder and I couldn't get after it even if I tried.

usually run around 72-73 to/from work everyday. biggest problem I have is the stupid crosswind every dang day. tracks pretty good as long as you stay out of the ruts and pay attention.

I drive 73-77mph daily and the Runner seems to handle that speed just fine. As stated before, crosswinds really do have an effect on all Runners.

I live in the same area as jmitch7715 and drive ~75mph to/from work daily. In addition to sensitivity to crosswinds, it seems my Michelin LTX M/S2 tires do not like the grooved concrete on I540/NC540. Truck feels ever so slightly squirrely on the grooves at highway speeds, but never have that problem on smooth concrete or asphalt. Had the same feel on the grooved concrete with the stock Yokohamas that came on it as well.

Apparently you weren't pushing the pedal down far enough. I find with me. Its a struggle to keep it at 70. It keeps slowing down to 65. 75-80 is easier. These things will go. Just as said before just need a little more pedal than you are probably use to in other vehicles. I drive a chipped F350 as my daily work truck. It will move with very little input. And with the way my wife and I drive we still average 18mpg. With the Gobi.

I don't think the year of the 5th Gen is going to make as much of a difference as the model. What did you drive? SR5, TE (KDSS or no KDSS?), LE (XREAS). The logical answer is whatever the speed limit is. The rest is all subjective. For me, 80mph is a breeze in the LE. I find it pulls along just fine, even on moderate hills with little downshifting, and is not unstable at all IMO.

well i can tell you, this LE handles better in crosswinds i encounter daily going to/from work a hell of alot better than my 10 legacy sedan did.
at least the LE slowed my butt down back to a reasonable speed since i cant fling this around like my legacy.
that car got me into more trouble when i had it than i ever had before or after.
that 91 in a 70 ticket hurt took 21 months to get those points off and $110 fine.

you do realize that the eco gauge can be permanently removed regardless of speed.
techstream software can remove it.

The year should have no effect on the cursing speed and stability because the drive terrain is all the same on the 5th gen. The suspension and tires are what will matter. I'm stable up to 85mph with no issue. Keep in mind that at 85mph you will not be getting great millage.
