If there is even the possibility of even thinking about going off-road where large rocks live at any point in your future, I highly recommend skipping the "running boards" and spending a little extra to get real rock sliders. I purchased and installed the aluminum "OEM" running boards for my 2011 SR5; then have multiple dings and dents, and the front bracket and rocker panel on the driver's side is significantly bent from a hard impact.
I now take them off (along with the trim piece) every time I go off road. I'm saving for sliders.
