OEM Running Boards on 2014 4Runner SR5

Just bought a 2014 4Runner SR5, which doesn't come with running boards.

Does anyone know that whether the OEM running boards for 2010-2013 4Runner will fit the 2014 SR5?

Ordered a 14 Trail last week. Was told about the supply issue with running boards and they said to place order without them as an option to not delay production. Further they said previous boards would not fit a 14 because they had tried. Did not tell me if that try was on an SR5, Limited or Trail tho.

Currently shopping for an aftermarket application for the 14. Guess that too could answer your question. Aftermarket applications show fits for 2014 separate from previous years.

I was told by Toyota that the 2010-13' running boards do fit the 14's. If you search the part numbers below, they are the same as the ones for the 2010-2013.

Check the wanted ads. Somebody just put their '14 OEM running boards up for sale.

One thing for sure is never trust what's said at the dealership. They'll lie in a second. Know what you're looking for if you have to get anything from them.

If you do try, I suggest trying out the OEM running boards for the 2010-2013 TE first on your 2014 SR5. The 2010-2013 LE/SR5 running boards might hang too low and leave a big gap due to the lower hanging rockers...

2014 Running Boards

I just picked up a 2014 SR5 Premium without running boards. They said it would take 3-4 months to order one with boards.

I went to the parts dept and bought Toyota boards for the '14.
The are very easy to put on, but they hang down ~6.5" from the bottom of the truck and are only 9" from the ground.
The 3 mounting brackets are so long and they show so much that it looks like some universal fits-all that you'd get from JC Whitney.
I took them off and will call tomorrow to see what other options there are. If this is really what the factory puts on, I'll have them cut and re-welded shorter.

My '07 T4R has boards that are up higher and protect the entire side of the truck. These '14 boards would not offer much protection.

2014 SR5 fixed Running Boards

Tried two different types of RB's for my 2014 SR5 from the dealer and both had a large gap between the body panel and the running board. No conformal rubber strip was included, and they were very low and looked bad.

Today I saw an 2014 SR5 with fixed RB's with tapered ends, conformal strip, and chrome edge.

A limited parked next to it had the same RB as the SR5, but had a longer mounting brackets. The window sticker on both vehicles said... R1...for the RB option.

Anyone know a part number for the one for the SR5, I could not see one on the RB's.

I wasn't aware that the body skirts on the '14 changed significantly or even at all enough to not have the running boards fit? The '14 is basically identical exterior-wise to the '10-'13 last I checked save for the front and rear of the vehicle, its a refresh not a new generation much like the 4th gen with their '03-'05 & '06-'09 differences in front ends, but retaining the same exterior panels for the most part.

I went thru this when my better half bought a new 2014 Toyota 4 Runner SR5 in early March of this year.

Maybe the aftermarket guys have caught up since then - can't say.

I put together a thread on this awhile back. Mine came with the rubber strip:

2014 4Runner SR5 Running Boards

Not the dealer I bought from, but the same part number with what I believe to be a good price - includes shipping:

the 14 limited is th eonly one that has the big ass skirt now. the SR5 no longer has it. Fitment is still the same 6 bolt design but there will be a gap between the rocker and the board

There are 2 diferent OEM running boards for the 2014 SR5s and Trails.

1. The "Factory Installed" version, which look decent:

2. The OEM "Genuine Accessory" running boards (Same as the 2010-13) that are dealer installed, and are FUGLY. They don't even look like they were designed for the 4runner, just like some Generic Aftermarket board that just happens to bolt up to the 4runner.

I saw a 2014 SR5 with these on them somewhere in the 2014 4Runner thread, or the Owners picture thread.
