2014 Entune problems
So I have a 2014 trail withe the navigation and sirius sat radio. When I first got the truck I noticed occasionally my phone would not connect to the bluetooth or it would connect then seconds later it would disconnect. So by trial and error I found if I start the truck with my phone inside there was a higher chance it would connect. Also realized it must be in park to manually connect the phone. Fast forward to my 5000 mile service. I tell the tech the issue and of course my phone connect seamlessly and we could not reproduce the issue. And now again its happening so bad to the point it never connects. Has anyone had this problem. I have a verizon iphone 4 which works well with all my other bluetooth devices

I have had this same problem. I have a 2014 SR5. I have an iPhone 5 with Verizon. Some days it works wonderfully and some days it will connect and disconnect repeatedly until I turn the Bluetooth off on my phone.

Hopefully someone out has figured out what the heck is going on.

Make sure you have the latest software update, I just did the 3.2 update and it fixed quite a few bugs.

Delete the connection from the phone and the 4Runner and start fresh with a new connection.

Mine does this as well. I took it in and they said there was an update they did. It still happens though.

I've only had problems once and it was on a trip when my wife had her phone connected to the USB port. I figured that might be interfering with my connection.

05runner you said there is an update? Do you mean on the entune or iphone? The dealer checked and said i had the most current entune version and there were no updates available. I will try to erase the connection and try a new one

First off older Apple Products (which unfortunately is pretty much anything that hasn't been released in 6 months with Apple) are the veritable bane of In-vehicle Infotainment systems and not just for Toyota. I have no idea what the hell Apple does, but not one manufacturer that I know of doesn't have eventual issues with Apple products.
I was going to suggest having your Etune and HeadUnit versions checked for updates, but you already had that done. By any chance have you tried to replicate this with another phone? Perhaps another iPhone 4, or maybe a iPhone 5, or even an Android OS phone?
The issue we need to determine is if the problem is your phone or the vehicle and this ladies and gentlemen is one of the most frustrating things of dealing with Infotainment system issues in general. I am not trying to put down you Apple product lovers, but we see a LOT of issues related to in vehicle infotainment (we deal in used vehicles so I see more than just Toyotas) and typically the owner has a Apple product more than an Android.
Post Note-
When your phone disconnects from BlueTooth are you able to reconnect quickly or do you have to go through the process all over again? Also when you do go through the reconnection process do you see if the MAC Address is all 0's or an actual Alpha-Numeric code? The reason I ask is that I have seen one or two BlueTooth modules fail on some Corollas that led to a straight inability to connect and one that had some intermittent issues (the unit may have been failing where as the other one just straight never came alive.)

I'm having the same issue using an android. Over the last several months, I'll attempt to make a call to let someone know that I'm about to pull up to their house. Inevitably, when I give a "dial command", the prompt will say... "there are no phones set-up to make a call" or, "This contact does not exist in the phone book". I've always gotten it to reconnect, but it may take 20 minutes, restarting the phone and then the truck, or attempting to... "Make this device discoverable".
I'm not sure if the problem is w/the phone or the nav because each time I've gotten it to work I've had to do something different, but it does seem to be an address(I.P.) related issue. Hope we can finally isolate this trouble.

Where do you go? I'm ambivalent about Groove Toyota, so if you've had a good experience elsewhere I'm all ears.

Ok maybe there is a newer update then because I was in for service on Jan 27th. I also have the issue with my wifes AT&T iphone 4s. Its really annoying that it doesnt work. The entune system and features are really cool but without connectivity its useless. Im going to update my phone also but i suspect there is a greater issue. I now have a video of the issue happening so when i go back to the dealer ill show them

I originally had the 2.1 software , then updated to the 3.1 and it fixed some things but created other problems.Toyota then came out rather quickly with another update 3.2 not sure when but I got it last week. It fixed all my issues so far. You can check which software you have yourself , it's really easy, go to set up, General , system information, all your software id's and versions. The latest is 3.2.0 (as of last week anyways) lol
