new performance improvement for my new 13 Limited
I've had the 4runner for now over a week. Drove great, acceleration is what I expected. However, I thought I would check tire pressure at gas fill up. The tires were only running for about 15 minutes. Sure enough, the tires were at 25 psi. Probably not low enough for tire sensors to warn me. However, quite a bit low. I filled to 32psi and the car drives seems to have a little more pep and steering seems a little quicker (FLOABT). I'll recheck the pressure this morning after car sat overnight. I generally run my tires about 2 PSI over. I would have thought the dealer would have checked..however..this was a leftover new 13...so it may have been setting a while.

First mistake, assuming the dealer would do anything right
I know you're new to the 4runners, but keep in mind for the future our TPMS is more there to monitor emergency situations and not good to be relied upon for routine maintenance. It's best to routinely check your pressure the old fashion way. But don't worry driving for 15 minutes on that low of a pressure is no big deal at all

I'm now up to 33 psi on each tire an I am good. The MPG ticker seems slightly improved as well.

IIRC one of my tires was at 50PSI the day I drove it home.
Is this the old fashioned way?

@ 1000MPH
OCD much? I'm surprised you didn't cool off each tire to the same exact temperature too, tsk tsk.

IMHO, your TPMS should have tripped. Mine did when one tire dropped to 29psi.
When I brought my runner home, one tire was at 45, the others were around 32.

Your spare is -40 degrees. Would it really get that cold?

That's assuming your air pressure gauge is properly calibrated, and OP's gauge is properly calibrated. Too much discrepancy to guess at what should've happened, lol.
I've read here that the triggering condition is below 27-28PSI, but no idea how accurate that is.

Not sure if this is a serious question, lol, but the 5th gen ECU can't register a 5th TPMS, hence the really wonky values

Sarcasm. I saw -40 and that this guy lives in Nevada. When I saw that I thought "WTF?".

Werd, good thing that you caught the fact he is in Nevada, because the 100+ degree temperature difference between the 4 mounted wheels and the spare wheel was surely not a dead give away

Weird. I got tires up to 33psi (cold tires). Now my MPG dash ticker does not go over 13MPG. I was averaging 17-19 before with lower pressure. I'm not certain how accurate the dash gage is. I reset MPG gage and same thing...very weird. The gas tank does not seem to be using anymore gas than normal.

Mr. Engineer (the one and only, lol) gave me the 29psi trip point for TPMS. And that's Toyota's settings.
As for the accuracy of my guage, all I can say is when the warning light came on only one tire registered lower than 32. It read 29 and when I corrected it the light went out.
So, assuming the engineer is correct, given his 29psi trip point, my gauge reading 29psi, and the TPMS light going on for the first and only time when one tire hit 29, I'm thinking he's right, and my (relatively expensive) tire gauge is accurate enough for car maintenance.
