I appreciate the feedback guys. Based on just the rough math I did on my own I also came to the conclusion that the price they quoted me seemed pretty high. I am going to the dealership today to get some eyes on some of these “builds” and assess whether or not these guys are snakes.

Corwin Toyota of Colorado Springs is the dealership.

Radflo extended travel coilovers, shocks and springs with reservoirs and adjusters. Nolathane UCA’s. 3” lift. Wildpeaks in 285/70-17 with matching full size tire and Pro wheel that fits in spare tire well as members Pedro367 and comtn4x4 stated. Changed out my Pro suspension due to added weight after 4 years as the issues member Magiriano stated. I had the older Pro Bilstein setup with 1.5/1” spacers front and rear. As Pedro367 responded to member GGMUFC, that is about $2000 too much. I paid $800 total for labor to install my new suspension including UCA’s and alignment.

I am due to take possession of my new MGM TRD Pro next week. I am coming over from an Off Road Xterra. I have been a member here for a few months and have been quietly learning so as to avoid asking easily answerable questions.

With that in mind, I have a probably easily answered question about lift pricing.

I am in CO and my dealership has an off road shop in house. They offer various packages to be rolled into the OTD price of the truck.

My question is this: is $4850 a fair price for: Westcott designs 2/1.25 spring perch lift, 285/70/17 KO2s, subsequent spare tire bracket alteration to fit a full spare (so five tires in total) and all labor? Just looking to see what you guys think before I pull the trigger. Thank you in advance.

-Cheers
Seems pretty high. Do you have a buddy with a garage and some tools? bring some beers and knock it out.

285/70-17 fits in the stock spare location with no modifcations needed (i have KDSS as well so theres even less room)

I’m glad you mentioned this for those with KDSS. I heard that it may rub on the trac bar?

Alright, so, I feel pretty good about the end product I am looking at after meeting the accessories manager in person. He had another Pro in his shop with the same Westcott setup as well as a few other mods. We took it out for a spin and it drove very well.
The manager himself is an off road enthusiast, had quite the rig of his own, and owned an off road shop here in CO that he sold for a profit after starting a family. I vetted that and found it to be true.
I concede that I will be over paying but all of the installs/work is going to be rolled under the factory warranty with the truck itself. Additionally, they are going to give me a ceramic 15% tint all the way around and a military discount. I have a few pictures of the other truck he had in stock but don’t I have enough posts yet to add them here.
I spend a large portion of my time away from home, so having all of this done under one roof and at the same time saves me a huge amount of time down the road. On that note, the truck he had had RCI sliders with kick out and top plate that they could add, but, that is an install that I can’t get behind paying someone else for.
I really appreciate the feedback from you guys and will keep you posted on my progress.

The Wescott is an nice setup for the stock Pros with the Fox shocks. This will be fine as long as you don’t add too much weight to your truck.
See if you can get the windshield and sunroof tinted also. Obviously, not 15% for the windshield. I did 70% on the windshield and 5% on the sunroof. 50% on the front two windows and 15% on the seven rear windows.
I get the time concerns. I don’t want to take on a lot anymore to save a couple hundred. Good luck with your Pro and post up some pics when you get it.

Can someone recommend a front leveling kit for the stock suspension on an SR5 premium?

I see kits ranging from 1.5-2.5 inches, which is correct?

Thanks!

Thumbs up

If anyone is running 1.5” front and 1” rear spacer kit on a 5th gen LE with aftermarket wheels/tires would you mind shooting me a message? Id like to ask about tire size, offset and how much trimming was needed. Thanks in advance, I have been trying to find this for a while on the forum and can’t.

I'm not changing tire size, but I added the Cornfed front 1" spacers. After it's said and done, my front was closer to 2". Now I'm thinking of getting the 1" Cornfed rear spacer. I'm keeping XREAS.

To clarify, they were 1/2" thick spacers that should have provided 1" lift

Washboards

Hi all,
I've had my 4runner for 6 or so years and I love it, they will probably bury me in it.
When I bought it, I lived in Austin and it came with a Toytec setup (BOSS I think, no remote res), I'm not sure what the rear springs are, probably standard. I added TC UCAs which made a huge difference, especially for on-road performance.
This setup was awesome for what I was doing back then which was driving to work and sometimes a little off-roading on the weekends.
Since then, I've moved to the mountains (my couch is at 8900ft) and I added a bunch of weight. The rear is sagging just a tad and I'm on crappy pot holed, washboard fire roads 75% of the time.
But, I still have to drive a very windy asphalt road 20 miles to and from work.

I need to keep road manners for the work drive, but the washboards are killing me.
I am aired down to 28psi with load E K02s, which I know are stiff and heavy, but I love them otherwise. I'm not comfortable going lower with the work drive, but airing up and down all the time would drive me nuts. The toytec is at least 6 years old and probably needs to go.

Is there a setup that would deal with the washboards better (I would assume a remote reservoir setup)? I have looked and read, but most is about height, or weight capacity or budget.
My poor truck is getting beat to sh*t, there has got to be a better setup.
BP51 or possibly Dobinson is what I am coming up with other than something even more pricey and fiddly like icon or king.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have read that the TRD Pro coil-overs ride exceptionally well on the small chatter bumps like washboard gravel roads.
I personally put TRD Offroad front and rear shocks on my limited when i ditched the Xreas stuff, and while they are slightly stiffer on the roads and in corners, they take offroad and gravel roads WAY better. It seemed like the TRD Offroad Bilstein shocks rode better on washboard gravel roads the faster you drove it, than it did on pavement. Kinda weird how you can feel every crack in the pavement but it was pretty freakin smooth at 30 on gravel roads.
Also, LRE BFG tires like that you can run down well into the 24-25psi up front and 18-20 in the rear on stock wheels without worry. Something i do is drive my vehicle on a gravel road so it paints the tires with dust, then hit flat pavement for a half mile with no turns and watch where the dust is wiped off the tread. I air down until the dust on the tread is wiped off the whole face of the tire perfectly. This ensures a flat contact patch of tread on the road and helps with better tire wear. My daily driver has 285-60-18 LRE and i run them at 24 cold front and 20 cold rear. My wifes daily has 305-50-20 LRD and i run them 24 cold front and 18 cold rear. This has been how we daily drive for years. My 285-60-18 LRE have like 98,000 miles on them right now and i bet i am going to get 120,000 out of them. I tow, i run highway, we live on a gravel road, i run cross country a few times a year, i run in the desert chasing desert races, and i dont change the pressures on my daily for on road vs off road.

On the suspension, over the years of reading here, it seems the TRD Pro shock setup is better tuned for washboard gravel roads and chatter bumps.
That doesnt mean some of the other big name aftermarket cant do just as good or better, but the TRD Pro has been what most folks really liked for that stuff.
