Yes and no.....ha ha. It has the Honda 9hp in it so it scoots around the sand better than you would believe. We air the tires down and it takes me where ever I need to go. I mostly only drive it in the little dunes and follow my daughter around on her Polaris 90. Sometimes drive it to watch the drags, but it is a lot more fun to drive the 4Runner up there now!
Back in the day...haha...before Rhinos and RZRs we would dune in it, get stuck, get creative and have a blast in it. Now it is mostly camp queen and we dune in the sandrail and/or quads.
Why do I pull trailer it with my 4R you might wonder......because there is no room for it in the toy hauler.

Is that Glamis? Also how did you mount the flag on the 4runner?

The pictures above were taken at Gordons Well. The drags were extra busy since it was Thanksgiving weekend. We actually drove the 4Runner up Olgilby Rd. and spent the day at Glamis to meet some friends. We aired down to about 12-15 lbs. and drove to Olds Hill. 4Runner is so awesome, we cruised down sand highway no problem. You can see in the picture there is a series of little hills that are soft and challenging to get through. Aired back up and drove back to our camp at Gordons. Actually saw 2 other 4Runners, one Limited like yours
I started a thread on how we did our whip mount and wiring. Here is the link:

Do you go to the dunes? Living in Havasu, you're not too far away. You're about 45 minutes closer than we are.

I have drove by them many times but never really been on them. I did take my old 4runner out there a little bit when no one else was around. I just drove out a little from that parking lot off the road on the north end of the dunes and down that flat road where the vendors set up. I did not have a flag or anyone with me if I had trouble. I used to go to the dunes at Silver Lake Michigan when I grew up in Ohio. I have utility atvs that I ride all over the desert but they are not that great in sand. You need a sport quad for that. Also I do not have a toy box or other place to sleep. Basically I have a lot of excuses. I can not imagine the 4runner climbing the big dunes. Have you ever tried Oldsmobile hill with yours?

Yep, very important to be with friends at the dunes. All sorts of stuff can happen and will happen.
Yep, dunes monopolize a lot of your $$, this is what our family does so that is how we justify the investment. Just like anyone with a hobby.
No. Have not and prolly will not try to climb Olds Hill in the 4Runner. Ok, I take that back, maybe we will give it a try. It will have to be a not crazy busy day, we'll have to take the hill on the far left side where it is more of a gradual climb and most importantly, I will have to have at least 2 shots of Fireball in me and have my husband drive me to the top!! haha I have seen worse vehicles climb the hill.

Looks nice! Looking like an SR5.....
I am doing the opposite, I am trying to look like a Trail that we couldn't afford at the time a year ago.

Would you believe? I have NEVER SEEN a barcelona red 5th gen 4Runner out here in the Nevada Boonies! Lots of white ones, a couple greys, one black (it had California plates on it and was just driving through.....

Added second set of Toyo M/Ts at 86900 miles.Added RCI OFF-ROAD Rock Slidersat 84000 miles. Added RCI OFF-ROAD front skid plate at 90,000 miles. Daily driver and so far spending about 30% of time/mileage off-road. Previous truck 2004 Land Rover Discovery that also spent about a third of it's life off-road. I HANG AROUND HERE "THE T4R FASHION FORUM" JUST FOR LAUGHS.
Perfect vehicle as it stands for northern Nevada terrain. Keep it stock - it'll go most anywhere as is.

In 18 months I have only seen two in the wild in all of San Diego (Besides my own). They are pretty rare.
