Whelp, after messing around w/ the redimensioning of the skid plate I have finally decided that no matter what my abilities are, I will not be able to make it look good enough for a vehicle with only 200 miles on it
The driver side weld had broke so I tried using JBWeld. While that worked out really good (sanded it down and the bond is very strong), I was unable to tighten the bend (make it a crisp angle) in the corner of the skid plate on the driver's side. So I just ordered another one.
With that said, the paint held up pretty well lol. I used Rust-Oleum High Performance V2100 black semi-gloss. I don't think I cleaned the plate well enough so I had a couple glossy spots but since it would have been under the truck it wouldn't have shown.
After running the thing over, the paint actually held up well if that's any indication of the paint.
This time around I'm going with Flat Black to avoid the glossy spots (Rust-Oleum High Performance V2100 part V2178838).
So, anyone want to buy a well used, black, somewhat bent TRD Skid plate? It
looks like it has a lot of good stories to tell!
