The BFG's are E rated and require higher pressure than the stock P rated tires. See the thread below for a good explanation.
LT tires need more air pressure.

Ok, that does it. Because of this thread I have now ordered my LT275/70r17 Cooper AT3 tires! I get them next week. I'll post some pics once I get them installed. I hope they will do well in the snow during my trips to Lake Tahoe next winter (assuming we get snow)

Since there's not to many threads with folks going for 275's I was hoping to squeeze in a quick question.
The forums VERY useful tire figment guide notes these fit on the stock suspension.
While adding the new wheels I'd like to install the Bilstein 5100's as well. Should the front shocks be moved up a notch? I'm not particularly looking to level. Like it just the way it is, and I know 275's are just maybe an inch taller, so would setting them at the (I believe .85) setting be best? I do plan to add a winch as soon as a hidden mount is released.
No particular desire to add spacers to the rear at that time unless they're needed. Rather save up for the day I get a full blown lift.
I'm pretty set on the BFG AT's in 275. I know they're E rated but that's nothing new to me and actually prefer them.
Apologies for high jacking the thread, just haven't seen many folks with 275's and a winch on a relatively stock truck.

excellent...look foward to the pictures.
My car is still in the shop due to a minor fender bender, so i have not ordered tires just yet.
but wow i can't decide on tires. i keep going back and forth on the Cooper AT3's and then the BFG TA KO's. I am really getting the tires for the looks; the car is really a recreational car...and may see minor offroading once in a while.
I am partially leaning towards the TA KO's for the looks, and the tread width is a little wider. 9.3 on the TA KO's vs 8.66 on the AT3's.
But my limited research says the AT3's are better for freeway driving, and they are less expensive.

Looked at the Cooper ST Maxxs? A little less pricey then the TA KOs, and they have gotten very good ratings. Definatly more aggressive than the AT3s, but still ride well from what I have heard. They come in the offsize 275/70 as well.

Third post on page 1, he has the .85" setup and looks perfect to me, I used the mid setting when doing my Tundra as well and it was just enough.

A bit embarrassed I missed that. Thanks for pointing out his settings.
A bit premature here but anyone run the 5100's, 275's, with a winch? No bumper, just the hidden mount. Since the mount exists only on Budbuilts and perhaps a few other companies drawing boards, I'm sure I'll end up raising the shocks to compensate.
Curious all the same though.

Jin I agree that the KO's shoulder blocks do look better than the ones on the At3's, but the ride comfort and traction the At3's provide on and off-road surpasses the KO's by quite a bit. If your willing to go "E" rated which I personally do not recommend take a look at the Cooper ATP the shoulder blocks are a lot more aggressive looking than the At3's. I didn't go for these because I didn't want to go any higher than a C rated tire, you sacrifice way too much in the overall performance of the vehicle, just my two cents. Here's a picture when I had the KO's and now, hope that helps.

Lord lost,
thanks a bunch you have given me a whole lot to consider!!
So I am assuming you are fully recommending the C rated AT3's?
Also, excellent photography!!! Are the KO's in the above picture 275's? They look pretty large...probably due to them being covered in dust?

I put 60,000 miles on a year with my 4 Runner and Tundra for work, I've tried them all and the KO is the tire the rest are compared to, there's reason for that. The Tundra has the Toyo AT2 Extreme on it now and I'll tell you it is one very impressive tire, and look great. They used to have a spec sheet that showed which sizes had the Extreme side wall.
8000 miles on the At2 and no wear ( kinda weird actually )

275 BFGs = Harsh Ride

Man those tires look great. I'd like to check on those. Sounds like you have them on the Tundra...what size and load range?
One point that wasn't really discussed was the potentially harsher ride with E rated tires. Our 4runners are light compared to the F350 or F250 trucks (not sure) that the 275 BFGs come standard on. I have run C rated druratracs (265) and loved them but was looking for something bigger. Currently I'm running the BFGs in 275 (E rated). The E rated BFGs do have a harsher ride versus the C rated duratracs.
Honestly since I do zero towing and don't have the access to real offroading (where sidewall protection is needed) I am thinking of going back to a lower load range to help out the ride quality.
What have others experienced?
Sorry for the tread hijack OP!
Stu
