Help needed: Driver door lock will not unlock manually.

I have a 2011 4Runner and I have always used the key fob to unlock my doors. The battery started wearing out on my keyfob, so I tried to unlock my driver door manually by turning the key. It worked once. After that, it won't unlock or lock the door when turning the key.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to hold it in a position or something?

Thanks for any help. I don't want to have to go to the dealership to fix it.

You should be able to open and lock the vehicle with your key.

Try the spare key to determine whether the lock, or the key, is the issue. And, try both on the passenger side.

I tried both keys and the valet key so I'm thinking it's the door

Replace the battery in the fob, or, if it's worth it to you, have the dealer take a look. My experience with key fobs, generally, is that they need batteries about every three years, so you're about due anyway.

I'm 1000% sure the key won't work on the passenger side- ever.
