You need to take off the full bumper skin as the chrome piece is attached with blue clips that prevent it from being removed any other way.

If you just want to plastidip, don't bother taking it off. Just tape around it and go for it.

I was concerned that might be the case.

Is there anywhere I can find directions as to where to start? I do have a lift but anyone vehicle is occupying it now. Will use of lift make it easier?

thanks, ron

No need to lift the vehicle or anything...It actually comes off super easy. Something like 6 bolts on the left rear fender area (inside and under) and the same on the right side. Open the rear hatch and take off all the bolts holding the cover, pop off one side and start pulling and the whole thing will come off.

Probably 5-10 minutes of work. On a scale of 1-10 for difficulty this is a 1 or 2.

Thanks to all it's off and I'm off to dealer for strip.

I'm over 60 and for me the lift does make it easier I can position vehicle at whatever height is easiest for me to work at.

The $130 plastic strip...

Let me guess - you hit something and it cracked.

Glad you were able to get it off the truck.

Bingo. I hit a small branch and it put a dimple in the chrome strip, luckily it did not touch or damage the plastic bumper. I got real lucky.

I have my chrome strip that I don't need anymore. I'm getting my bumper replaced with an after market. I'll sell it to you for $30 including shipping. It has plasti dipped on it. You can peel that right off to get it back to the original chrome. Pm me if your interested.

Thank you for the offer, but the dealer had it in stock so I just bought one and put it on that day.
