New tires, slightly larger, now VSC/DAC not working

I just had some Michelin LTX MS2s (275/55/20) install on my 2011 Limited and now the slip indicator is always on and when I roll back on a steep incline (intentionally), the hill start/brake modulation does not work as it used to. Is there anything I need to reset to get the systems back to working properly? I noticed this in the manual, section 2-4: "The ABS, Multi Terrain ABS and VSC will not function correctly if different tires are fitted on the vehicle." I also can't get the DAC to work either... Have I screwed up?

I think this is limited to situations where you have different sized tires on 1 or 2 of the wheels as compared to the others. If you go up a size on all of them (the same size) then that itself shouldn't be the issue.

I definitely installed 4 of the same size tire... Not clear as to what is going on. Perhaps I need to do a Zero Point Calibration? I don't want to mess with something that I don't have to just for the sake of "messing"...especially when it comes to a VSC issue. I guess you could make the case that I already did that by putting on different-than-stock tires, but...

Hi sperho,

I'm running the exact same size tires on my '12 limited and no issues have resulted however, some do experience VSC hyper sensitivity so a "Zero Point Calibration" may be necessary, see here:

https://www.google.com/url?q=http://...tPkHfEGrH3XwrQ... And here's one that pertains only to 5'th gen 4Runners (both will be relevant)

Yaw Rate and Acceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration ...A ton of threads 'here' on the subject; use the search feature, Good luck!

rigtec, cheers

No joy. Tried the bottom procedure 3 times (was doing that while you posted) and still a persistently-lit slip indicator, no DAC, and no hill start assist/anti-rollback. Now I'm beginning to wonder what they screwed up. Also concerned that ABS is out of whack as a result. They had the hood up in the shop, so either they removed a fuse or disconnected the battery. Sigh.

Well, I'm stupid. I didn't pay close enough to the OBD connector orientation and I shorted out the wrong pair of pins. Hope I didn't burn anything. I redid the procedure (minus the driving part, because I was back home in my garage) and now the indicators are behaving as I would expect. I may have to repeat the procedure alongside a straight road if I really need to do the driving bit. (what is that part for anyway?)

Truly dense,
sperho

That part is so that the sensors: speed, acceleration, distance (travel), slip, can be calibrated in order to properly re-calibrate/coordinate the ABS, VSC, TRAC, etc... PS: I would definitely do the whole procedure "all at the same time" as opposed to doing one part yesterday, then tomorrow another, as this may compromise results. Glad you found the problem. Best to you!
