For anyone interested, I just talked with Ray @ AMP and he said that these are 4-6 weeks from being available. They are in the process of producing them and assembling the kits as we speak. Pricing should be about the same as kits for other vehicles. Had a set on my GMC Sierra and they were hands down the best step option I've ever owned. Great for kids and petitie wives! Considered a set of the new 2014 OEM Trail boards but since you can't order as a set, and they cost $1100+ for a pair ordered individually, I'd rather spend that kind of coin on the AMP setup. Had 45K on my '13 GMC when I traded it and the steps never missed a beat, and we were in and out of it A LOT!

Just got an email from the operations manager at AMP Research. Said they'd release the 4Runner PowerSteps to distributors in about 3 weeks.

Good to hear. I picked up a set of the unobtainium Trail running boards from a helpful member here, but functionally they aren't nearly as good as the AMP for the wife and kids. Will be looking into a set once available.

Thanks for the info. I had been in contact with Joe and his reply in August was "available in 4 weeks." Prior to this, it was "another month" back in May. I just hope they will release them regardless.

My understanding is the manufacturing process is complete, and the product will be released to dealers in the near future. How soon is the question, and the poor young lady who answers phones at AMP has been besieged with calls asking about T4R power steps.

In the meantime I recall some questions from people thinking the step protrudes from the side and looks awkward on a Runner. Actually it's just the opposite, as they tuck under and look quite natural.

If you look below the bottom of where the doors close that area is designed with a squared off end so it runs more or less right below with the same squared off corner. Then standing back from your rig below that lower are you see part of the undercarriage.

However with the power steps in place they tuck right under that lower area and appear part of the design. For lack of a better description lower body cladding / protection. The net affect is a more finished look and the best part as far as I'm concerned you don't see all the undercarriage stuff.

I'm planning to take lots of photos today or tomorrow of my rig with the steps from normal perspectives and angles, rather than close ups from angles very close to the ground. That way you'll see the steps in the same way they look to driver and passengers, as well as people on the street.

Close to pulling the trigger on a set. Going to get the Icon Stage 2 installed in the next couple of weeks, 34x10.5's, then these as the stock running boards are marginal now and will be about useless with another 2.5-3" of lift. Anyone else pick em up yet? Was hoping to see a few more pics!

Reviving an old thread, wondering if anyone has ever attempted adding these to a Limited since this was last discussed? AMP says they won't fit, I think I could mod the cladding if that is the issue, but wondering what kind of fitment issues there are between the steps and the x-reas system???

Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I'm curious as to why these won't work on a Limited.

Ditto hoping that there will be a limited compatible version in time.

I gave up trying to figure out if they could be added to a Limited because we couldn't find one my wife liked that had them, we ended up ordering one with the steps from the factory.

I have them on my 16 TP. Was told by rep that they do sell extensions to get them down for lifts.

After installing them I am concerned about going offroading and having them open into mud/rocks etc, fry motors, strip gears maybe? Ideas on a kill switch for them? i know i could pull the fuse before i get into the bad parts..
