LED Cargo Lamp DIY w/Pics

I've recently done the LED conversion on my vehicle and had a hard time figuring out the rear cargo lamps. I did some searching on here and found a simple explanation, but I wanted to provide pictures to help others do this mod as it's much simpler once you know what you're looking for.

The first image shows the lamp when you pull it out. As mentioned on another thread, the lamp has a metal tab on the drivers side of each lamp. Stick your flathead screw driver into the drivers side gap and push the tab towards the lamp. This will loosen it up and it should pop right out. Then take the plastic cover off and replace your bulb with the LED and you're done. There's a plastic tab on the passenger side of each of them that hinges out towards you when you remove the lamp. Just place that end in first and pop the lamp back in.

Finished product.

I have a similar setup. I have more LEDs in the pod, but it is basically the same thing.

Is this for the lights on the interior of the rear hatch door? I have had a very difficult time figuring out how to remove the light to swap the bulb. I had no issue on any other light in the vehicle, or on any lamp on different cars in the past, but I am worried about breaking them, or damaging the surrounding material.

Perfect,

Thank you - I figured the construction was essentially what was detailed, but with as difficult as it was trying to get it out, I didnt know if I was doing something wrong.

Just did same with

I just did the same thing with SiriusLED Extremely Bright 400 Lumens 3020 bulbs from Amazon. The stock DC3175 put out about 120 Lumens. These have 400 so its way brighter.

For anyone considering adding lights to the cargo area, spare yourself from taking the hatch apart, fishing wires etc. These bad boys are awesome, the pics don't do it justice.

was in the same boat as the OP and decided to make my own. Nothing will beat the brightness of these hatch lights.
