ARB Style Awning on OEM roof rails?
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if the ARB type awning will work on factory roof rails? Ive been trying to look and see how they attach, but it looks like they are set up for a full ARB style roof rack.
The instructions talk about using L brackets, but the factory rails are shaped funny, so i dont know how well that will work.

Email ARB USA and ask. They have a 5th gen so they'll have a good idea if it'll work and they're also very responsive. Every time I've emailed them they've replied within 24 hours.

The factory rails are too short in length and height. I can post a couple photos later today detailing how I mounted mine to my Camelback rack.
Basically there is a slotted rail running the length of the awning. You'll need cap screws of an appropriate length and some kind of backing plated to sandwich around the rails of a rack.

I called ARB and the tech suggested their "L" bracket (part #OS3071), or use some type of clamp and a backing plate.

Post the pictures if you don't mind. Do you have a trail or SR5/limited?

Check back this evening, I'll be sure to snap a few. I have an sr5, but I'm running a Camelback metal gear roof rack. The awning works with it quite nicely.

Thanks. It looks like the Trail roof rack sits higher than the SR5 so it may work.
I would love to get a new roof rack but its just not in my budget right now so I have to make something work for the time being.

I just ordered my Camel Back roof rack today, and next thing to do for me is to get the ARB awning.
Me and Alex were talking about the same setup for the awning today for either 2500x2500 awning or the 2000x2500 awning.
Please also share the size of the the ARB awning you have.
Last thing, I measured the roof rack today and the 2500x2500 awning is almost a foot longer than the roof rack which it will cause the awning to stick out. Is it causing any problem or does it bother you when driving!? ( is it visible from inside the cab from the driver's seat!?)

When it came down to sizes, I went with the 2500. You can barely see it through the windshield. The main reason I went with that length is it covers the front door when it is open. Meaning, you can have the front door open in the rain and the interior won't get wet. Or at least it's very minimal.

I'm glad to see how the 2000 awning fits the rack.

Interesting thought. It's good to be able to get more use from the seats when raining. That front portion of the awning that sticks out kinda bothers me, but meanwhile the extra functionality you get out of it seems to be enough reason to get the wider awning.
Now I have to decide which size to go with.
My apologies to the OP. I stole his thread for few posts. He actually asked for the application on the stock roof rack.
