I was talking to the fox rep at the off road expo and he didn't know much about toyota set up so I was turned off by the fact that he couldn't tell me how much of a lift it would actually give the truck.

Would I be able to run a similar setup with ball joint UCA's? I'm guessing yes with less articulation.

Please report with any off road experience!

I'm sure you can run ball-joint UCAs. Not ideal, however. The point of the "extended travel" Fox coilovers is for that extra inch or so.

Looks like I achieved about 2" of lift up front with room to go higher. The specs say 0-3" for these coilovers.

Before I installed mine I emailed fox regarding this, they replied that they're set for approx. 2.5 inches of lift from the factory, and you can adjust them from there how you like. Go figure I completely forgot to take before measurements.

Really like your set up. If you don't mind me asking, where did you order it from?

I am actually very satisfied with the performance I have today with my setup - I'm not inclined to change things up right now because it is finally dialed and performs really well (some guys on here have ridden in it and can attest to how well it handles). The increase in performance I'd get from Fox now would be at the margin and isn't justifiable for the multi-thousand dollar expense. I've mostly been put off by the service I received at Icon.

After I saw your truck at the expo I was sure I wanted to go icon, but wanted to see other opinions on the fox setup. Are you going to be at trails n triggers next weekend?

FYI I ordered front CO's only, money I wasn't quite ready to spend yet, so UCA's & rears are in holding pattern till I save some more dough.

Front: 883-06-111 - (1) Pair of 2.5 Factory Series Coil-over Reservoir - Dsc Adjustable (from Toytec)

I failed to take a pic before hand, it was sagging though, hand height to the fender, very noticeable negative camber on my wheels

Not sure what mine were set to from the factory, when I spoke with Fox about the hose fitting clocking, he said 1", I have got at least another 2.5"+ of threads to go up, there is like 4.5" of threads on those tubes. I suppose i could measure. I Have roughly an extra 250+lbs on the front, winch, winch mount, 31m battery, compressor, sliders, lights.

Personal preference I'd guess. I'm running Radflo with a 2.0" up front and a 2.5" long travel in back.

A few flex-shots today while sorting out some rubbing issues with the new tires. 2.5 in the front, 2.0 out back.

I have actually had a history of service and delivery issues with Icon over the past 2 years, but up until the last incident they got things corrected without me having to argue with them:

Incident #1: I send in my coilovers from VA back to CA for a refresh (new seals and oil), and also pay to swap from 650lb springs to 700s. Icon does the rebuild but forgets to swap the springs (which they charged me for) and sends them back. The shocks take another cross-country trip (on Icon's dime) to get it corrected. Icon does not send back my old 650lb springs after the swap.

Incident #2: I am super excited to buy and install Icon's S2 dual shock system. When it come available I throw down for it and almost $2k worth of bypass shocks. Turns out that Icon had not actually finished R&D before releasing for sale, and I had to wait another ~2 months after spending thousands to get everything I paid for.

Incident #3 (the final straw): I send my front secondary bypasses in to be reconfigured to work with my new Total Chaos lower arms and shock towers. I am very specific about what needs to be done, explain verbally, offer to draw diagrams, etc. The work isn't overly complex - it is reconfiguring where the remote reservoir tube exits the shock and modifying the length of the tube. I paid about $400-$450 for the work.

When I get the shocks back, (a) the top cap to the shocks is screwed down such that it is clamping down on the rebound bypass adjustment knobs, meaning I can't tune rebound, and (b) the resi hoses are not oriented even close to what I needed, although they are exiting the shock how I asked.

I sigh an exasperated sigh, and call Icon. To my horror, the verbal reaction I get from the gent on the phone is a mix of defensive and complete lack of caring. I am told "you asked for custom work, we did that work, this is on you to sort out" - implying I asked them to do something crazy out of the norm and that they did me a favor by attempting it (remember I PAID over $400 for this work). I had to remind the gent of that, explain why they needed to make it right, and also talk this dude down. Told him as inconvenient as this was for him/Icon, it was for me too, and the last thing I wanted was to be making that phone call/having that conversation. Eventually they caved and agreed to make t right after the haggling.

So there you have it. As someone who is probably in the 90th percentile of spenders with Icon who has historically been very reasonable in dealing with past mess-ups and has also provided significant media coverage (through my personal website - my Icon S2 install article has had thousands of hits through organic search on DirtRoadTrip.com), I got treated like I was both a pain in the ass and trying to screw the company, when I was (once again) trying to resolve a service issue.

So, that's the story.

Foxy fronts installed!

I'll have to say, this has been a long time coming. Finally installed Fox 2.5 w/adjustable remote res. super pumped on the ease of install, for the most part. Had some small issues that came up (which just made it custom) I have many thanks to helpful people on this forum. Ladies and gents that had helpful advise for selection and trouble shooting through out my build. Hat off.
May this inspire you to do something fun in your T4R.

@joneseyyy Thanks for sharing your stories, this isn't the first time I have heard of Icon issues.. At least your end result was to your satisfaction!
