2010 4Runner Limited Wheel change question

I'm looking for some options here and thought I'd lay it out to see if you guys can provide some direction. As you know, the Limited comes with the skinny 20 inch wheels. I was a fan at first, but now not so much.

So. I'm weighing my options, here they are:

1. Get better looking and wider 20 Inch Fuel or XD's. I like the bigger looking wheel but want a better looking stance and then there's the off road part. The question here is what modifications do I need to do? 1 inch lift or 3 inch lift? What else might be involved?

2. Go with 17" or 18" wheels. Again, is a lift needed?

All in all, i definitely want to level out the suspension, but I'm really having a hard time figuring out which direction to go.

Thanks and I look forward to your input.

Any 17" 6 bolt Toyota wheels will fit the Limited.

265/70R17 will fit without a lift.

Whether you need a lift will depend on the offset of the wheels and the size of the tires. I traded out my 20" OEM wheels for 18x9 -12mm offset and 265/70 tires. I needed a lift (the Toytec 2.5" XREAS compatible kit) to stop the rubbing. Picture here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/1831583-post6.html

Hi WheelJack,

2012 'Limited' 'Stock rims/No lift':

Below: The one the left is the stock 'Yokohama' 245/60 R20. It is still mounted on rim and at 35 PSI; the tire on the right is the New GdYr 275/55 R20, It is waiting to be mounted (No rim)... See the difference?

These are GdYr Eagle LS-2's 275/55 R20

These are the GdYr Eagle LS-2 275/55 R20. They're wide (about 11"), have a Low profile, perform extremely well @High Speeds and on curves! Work good in snow (not as superior as a true snow tire) but good. These are standard equipment (Same size) on 'Escalade', 'Tahoe', 'Yukon'...etc because they're built to perform "On-road".

"I could not be more satisfied with a tire AT ANY PRICE" 'An absolute performer'! Rgds

If you off-road go with a 17" wheel, I was able to sell my 20's for enough to more than pay for someone else's 17"s. You would have to decide if you want to scrap the Xreas shocks if you want to lift. There are some thorough discussions out there on this site about it, not as big of a deal as some make of it.

If you don't off-road, buy something you think looks good as everyone's opinion will vary. I think I remember seeing pics of the wheels you mention in the owners thread, although it could have been in the lifted thread, early on not recent pages. Just add "5th gen" in front of the wheels you are looking for and you can probably find them easily.

And wave when we pass each other on the highway, haha

I believe this is the largest size tire that will fit with 'NO MODS', Rgds!
