2015 SR5 Premium - New owner with Q's

Hey there! This is our first 4Runner and I have some questions about tires and steps.

We plan on getting after market rims but will be sticking with 17". What size tire will fit without rubbing? 285's?

Where is the best place to order steps/nerf bars?

Traded in my one year old Camry and couldn't be happier!

There are several ads in the classifieds for OEM running boards. Much more reasonable than buying new, but I wonder why so many apparently remove the steps and sell them. Maybe you can find a set nearby and save on shipping.
BTW, I went for the sliders.

nFab Steps

I like the look of nFab Steps over running boards and they don`t extend below the frame to reduce ground clearance.

Shop on-line and at local shops. I bought mine 2 years ago from 4Wheel Parts with free ship to store for about $329. Plus it cost me an extra $49 because I saw a yank strap that I had to have.

I wish I would have gotten sliders instead but they cost double that. I do easy off-road but there have been many times where i wish I had sliders.

I just put on 275/70/17 ko2 on SCS 17x8.5 -10 offset
They rub quite a bit on a stock rig

I thought they would and have 5100's to fix it.

It all depends on the tire and offset-if I put highway tires on it would prob not rub

I also had on a set of 265/65/18 rugged terrain on some 18x9 -12 offset and they rubbed a lot less but looked nasty.

Thanks for the input. We went and looked today and the guy recommended 265/70/17. Said the 275's rub on stock rigs so it's good to see confirmation. Sucks to have to put skinnier tires on but I'm not ready to start making modifications on it yet.

As stated above, if you are going to wheel your rig, get sliders. They are worth the money.

Cheers, Steve

No plans to wheel it. At least not anytime soon.

Took it down to the tire shop and my son put a 17x9 Fuel Maverick and 265/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT2 to try on. Definitely going to rub a little so will need to do some trimming. Was hoping to avoid that but seems inevitable.
