Weird timing on this thread!
I just purchased a 2020 4Runner SR5P and I'm starting to look into a remote start. Are these compatible with the 2020s?

Got my order in for the remote start and window touch pad. Steve was really nice over the phone and explained everything. Within 20 minutes of sending payment i already had tracking details. Thanks brother. I look forward to getting it installed.

Got my setup from Steve installed.. I ordered the setup with the 2 way remote that comes with drone mobile.
Deciding factor on picking this up from Steve vs the other guys was twofold. First, I liked the overwhelming positive feedback about him and his support.. I mean this involves taking apart the dash.. what if something goes wrong? Figured it would be great to have someone to talk to if it goes wrong. Secondly, the temperature based activation of the defrost. I mean thats awesome.. and a huge help.
Anyways, the install was easy. Like way easier than I imagined it could be. The dash comes apart easily, toyota did a great job designing this thing. It would take some serious stupidity to break a clip. Steve's provided directions are thorough, and written so that anyone could understand them.
I actually did the install a couple times... first time took about an hour to get it all plugged in. Did it first using the provided t-taps (fantastic quality things, way better than the crap at auto parts stores).. Tried to remote start, and it failed. Called up Steve, we did some quick troubleshooting, and we realized that the module was bad.. no fault of Steve's, the thing was actually missing a pin internally. Side note to this.. he's good. Real good, and knows the setup and our cars like the back of his hand.. I'm talking like 5 minutes of troubleshooting and he's like well that's the issue, I'm sending you another one.
I got the new parts in, and installed it all.. this took WAY less time, maybe 30 minutes (seriously, its easy). IDK if he'd want me to mention this, but he threw in an RPS touch module as a thanks for waiting.. TOTALLY not necessary, but man... that thing is actually really cool.
Once I verified everything was working, I pulled it all out and went ahead and soldered everything in.. figured why not, the peace of mind seemed worth the small amount of effort.
The only issue I have is that the Drone module doesn't get cell service reliably at home, not sure why. Works great everywhere else, but just not at home... I may buy the Verizon SIM card for it to see if that helps.
The system is nice. Really nice, his harness is well made, uses quality connectors, and quality wiring, and everything is wrapped professionally. The setup from Steve costs a little more than the 12vsolutions and the other one, but you get killer support, fantastic directions, and name-brand hardware. If I want to add a different remote with longer range, or add an alarm system.. no big deal. You can make this what you want later on.
I'm super happy with this thing, and I shoulda gotten a remote start years ago.

I got one. If the 4Runner came with factory ( KARR) alarm. Can this be added to that ? Trust me I wasn’t happy but at least I didn’t pay for it.

Hey guys,
I just completed my install of one of steve's setups. I got remote start with ezgo proximity sensor. Everything went great with the install but was having issues programming the module. But once he called me back it worked within 5 mins. I would highly suggest. The harness build is very high quality.

Another satisfied customer!! Steve is awesome, and we moved right through the process of getting me what I needed really quickly. Got it installed, and I couldn't be happier!! Love having a remote start, and this thing is a breeze to install.
Thanks again, Steve!

Remote starter is scheduled to be delivered today, might leave work early to get a jump and install before it gets dark!

Just Ordered
Went with the cheaper option as College Students must do. Should be two simple wire-taps which I have experience with by installing the Ultimate Camping rear-window switch and hatch-pop button from Jesse on the forums here. I highly recommend you ask for some of the same 98% plug and play kits to get some experience with wire-taps. They are a great tool I used to know nothing about!
I will update with install tips and a finished product video.
I went with the remote-start which keeps the factory fob and sprung for one touch-RPA which sticks to the window and functions much like those FORD keypad unlocks.
Steve is good to reach by email but prefers that you text him!

Received my Full Security/Remote start kit today and I have to say this was so much easier that i anticipated.
Steve has been great the whole way through and the instructions he provided make this literally one of the easiest electronics install i have ever done.
10000% satisfied customer right here
Please buy with confidence from Steve if you are considering getting one of these kits installed.

I have looked everywhere on this site, and can't find what color or location of the tach wire is in a 5th gen tdr pro, 2016.
I had a remote start alarm installed, it starts, but it keeps trying to start every 5 seconds like it's not already running. I am going to take it back tomorrow with the hopes of telling the installer which wire is the tach.
I would have started a thread, but I'm new and it wouldn't let me. Sorry for high jacking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
