If anyone has an email or phone number for Steve that they wouldn't mind sharing I'd love to reach out to him to get a setup. My local Compustar installer isn't returning phone calls or emails so I am looking for someone to hook a bro up!

PM me so we keep is contact information non-public

I tried to buy product from him a few months back but he started a new business and communication fell off. I'd like to pick up where we left off. If you have any luck, will you let me know?

What are my options for 2012 LE with smart key that is not currently equipped with remote start?

Will you still be able to use all the lock/unlock functions on the door handles and rear hatch?

@gshadow325 nice write up.

Did ever get a chance to install a remote system starter with the Fortin Evo-All interface on a Limited Edition?

Hi Guys,
I had some stuff in another thread, but I figure I would post this update here.
I had my system installed over the weekend and it didn't go exactly as planned.
I had a Viper Smart Start with EVO-ALL put into my '15 Limited over the weekend. I explicitly discussed that I wanted the Smart Start app with factory keyfob three lock start functionality (so I don't have to carry and extra keyfob) and I wanted it to be a full takeover, meaning I want to get in and go with out the engine shutting off. However, when I go back to pick it up they tell me that they could not make it work the way I wanted. I do not recall if it was the key takeover or the factory keyfob start functionality, but they had to install a simple one-way starter module to get me going and even then I still do not get the factory keyfob start functionality.
They ended up putting in a cheapo Avital 4103 as well as the EVO-ALL and the VMS300 Smart Start.
They are being very apologetic since they couldn't deliver what I promised but they are willing to do whatever I want to make me happy, including tearing it all out and going with Drone/Blade if necessary.
So the question is, what setup will get me what I want in my Limited?:
-Unlimited range with Smartphone/cellular based starting
-Door unlock and starting with Factory Keyfob
-No need to carry second starter keyfob

from what I remember, to do full take over, the module has to unlock the vehicle, remote start vehicle, then relock vehicle.

Do you have a copy of this writeup?? Also, what remote starter would you recommend for a 2013 limited that I want to keep the factory fob?

Thanks

I believe my setup has full takeover with the EVO-ALL and the Smart Start module.
Now that I recall, the Avital starter brain was only installed so I can have a way to unlock the doors while the car was started (and not have to fumble and wait for the Smart Start App while I am at the car).
It's a compromise to have to carry the crappy little one button remote, so I am hoping to find a solution to utilize the factory keyfob with my smart start system

wrong and wrong and more wrong.

Avital brain has to be used since the EVO-All is NOT a stand alone unit, it only does bypass features.

No i have not gotten a Limited with Prox key to do a install on. I was going to do it on my mother in law's 15 rav4 but i moved to atlanta and she's in Philly. her loss, i asked her to do it in the summer when i had time, now winter is coming she's hinting she needs it LOL.

You have to carry a 1 button remote because of the inferior avital POS unit.

My video's dont show any use of junk DEI stuff.

With the compustar you will be able to enable 3x lock to start the vehicle and then walk up with the prox key and unlock it.

Getting technical:
ADS mimics the way OEM intended it to work.
FORTIN: is using a back door method to circumvent the system.

two ways to cross the street, both are correct.

why didnt you get a compustar and the drone unit?
if they didnt deliver as promised, take it out and refund me my time. i would not have paid them.

to add on to this discussion. why would you get a drone mobile unit and use the oem fob to remote start?

it defeats the whole purpose of the drone mobile unit and your cellphone app?

if your within range of the 4runner to have the oem fob to remote start get a regular compustar setup instead of the drone mobile unit.

I want the keyfob backup because you can be in an area without cell phone coverage for one, and also if it is freaking cold, I don't want to have to whip out my phone and use the app to open the car and get in. Also, and I am not sure if the Drone app is any faster than the Viper/DEI, but the app takes a considerable amount of time to react, like upwards of 20-30 seconds at times.. rarely inside 10-12 seconds. If the car is nearby like parked in front of my house, I can just hit the fob.
I want to use the app primarily and have the keyfob as backup. But I also want full takeover to get in and drive without engine shutdown.
This conversation is spread out over two threads now, but I would just appreciate some concrete specific answer regarding my situation.
As I mentioned in the other thread, my installer will yank the whole system and put in what I tell him to. They know they effed up and promised something they couldn't deliver. They are also listed as Authorized "Pro" installers for Compustar as well as Directed. I followed their advice that it was the Compustar that was problematic and to go with Viper.

G,
I hear you. You obviously know your stuff.
As I mentioned in my previous post, the installers are willing to rip it all out and start over from scratch if I want.
Please let me know the exact parts list with a Compustar setup to get my '15 Limited to:
-Start with an app
-Be able to unlock the car with the keyfob after it was started
-Have full key takeover so engine will not shut down
-Have local remote starting ability with the factory keyfob

Thanks for the help.

again back to the orginal answer I think...

if you need to remote start, use the oem fob. otherwise use the app.

I thought that was explained earlier that you can use the oem fob for lock/unlock/remote start.

but If you getting the drone mobile, the point was to use the app to remote start.

if your not needing the features that drone is suppose to resolve, get a regular compustar security/remote start unit.

heck I think even those will let you use the oem fob in lieu of the fob that comes with the unit.

compustar gives you choices, its up to you to decide on what you want.
