2015 Trail Premium Install

Mine is a '15 Trail Premium. Between the first video (2014 Trail) and the second video (2015 TRD Pro), the bladed key fob appears to not be able to unlock the doors on the 2015 once the remote start has been enabled. Is this true of all 2015 trucks or is that TRD Pro specific?

Said another way, the factory remote to unlock after the remote start appears to work in the first video with the 2014 truck. The factory remote to unlock after the remote start appears to NOT work in the second video with the 2015 truck. Am I understanding that correctly and is that why the EZ-go is installed in the second one and not the first (aside from convenience)?

If anyone can confirm or correct my take on this, I will be very grateful. Thank you all for providing so much information, especially Steve. Damn, man. You are awesome. Thank you so, so, so much. You rock! Yeah, really.

correct, ez-go was not installed in first one because the drone took care of that, second one was drone and EZ-go.

@gshadow325 how's it going first of all thanks for taking your time to make this thread and help so many people out. this is my first post here and was just wondering if you could clarify some things for me about my new car starter. I just bought a Compustar t11 pro for my 2015 te 4tunner and was wondering how much stuff I can actually do with it? I know there are a few auxiliary settings and functions but I'm not sure what things I can actually program to it, such as the lift gate window. Honestly I'm having trouble finding much info about this model at all, probably because of how new it is, but any info you could share would be awesome.

No problem except one, potentially.....Where did you get your T11?
Ebay, Amazon? No warranty if you did. Legit retailer? then you get a 3 year warranty.

What can you do? I use mine to control 2 cars, my previa aka Tala-Van gets the train horns hooked up to trunk release for a 3 second blast. My t4r gets rear hatch roll up and down using aux 1 and aux2, trunk release does a train horn blast too. On my convertible i have it opening and closing my top.

on the install side, compustar can do LOTS of stuff.

example:
-under full alarm, it can be rprogrammed to set off aux devices. my convertible is set to turn on the 6 head led strobe lights, police pa siren and small air horns.
- it can be set to trigger on open loop. usage is car under cover and when it gets taken off it will trigger the alarm.
- you can set it up to trigger anything you want. my t4r triggers ALL my lights and train horns on full alarm.

NOTE: this is different than just a regular horn trigger, its full alarm trigger. horn triggers just honks the horn for audible confirmations.

@gshadow325 hey thanks for getting back to me, yea I did but it from a dealer from their website and the place installing it was listed on their site with a "pro" rating next to it, not sure if that means much. I am probably just interested in the liftgate window function for now and by lift gate release do you mean that it can also open the trunk? Cause that would be pretty cool too. If so are these things that most installers would know how to do, or does it require lots of bypasses and bullshit like that? Also if you could estimate how much adding those functions would cost after the basic remote start/security functions were already installed?

no, trunk release is programmed to do another function

making the glass open and close is not something all installers know how to do.
many dont even have a basic MECP certification.

estimated cost? dont know what to tell you. if they dont know how to do it, they will charge you for time for discovery. every market is different. north eastern states get less per install vs south eastern states get more due to the lack of talented installers familiar with alarms/starters.

@gshadow325 ok yea I wasn't sure if you meant it opens your trunk and does a train blast. Thanks again for your help, I got my car back last night and everything seems perfect so far, car doesn't turn off when I open the doors and everything else seems good.

HUGE shout out to @gshadow325 , for hooking me up with remote start!! I got the Compustar with the Drone and EZ-GO. Installation time was about 3 hours, and I've never installed a remote start before!!

I couldn't (and wouldn't) have tackled this project without the help and reassurance of @gshadow325 !!!

2014.4 Camry SE with Smart Key

OK Steve, I have looked through this whole thread and have a couple questions...
Like Denzel Washington said in the movie Philadelphia..
Explain this to me like I'm a two year old, okay?
I want to use the OEM Smart Key FOB to remote start the Camry and perhaps add Drone mobile as well. I understand that you can not add Drone to the Toyota branded remote module as well as the range stinks, is that correct?
What do I need if I was going to go Compustar route? Looks like an Idatalink to mimic/clone the needed FOB, verse hiding one under the dash? I saw in one link from Idatalink that they called out something called a "blade" and I see that in this thread too, but can't find any info, this is not a bladed key, but a blade module, correct? Looks like some slide out piece from the remote start body that you program and there is where I am lost. This is not a Fortin part, correct?
In closing, thanks for your time and as of right now, there still is no "Take over" option that works with the Smart Key, correct?

lets break the paragraph up so its a little easier to read and respond

Looks like the question on this 4runner forum is for a
-toyota 2014.5 camry
-push to start
-smart key
-oem remote start control from factory fob
-want take over, so no shut down when the vehicle door opens

Since i have plenty of experience installing these things, i'll answer a camry question on a 4runner thread LOL

-Weather it is a Fortin, Directed or Idatalink, no take over. vehicle will shut down when door opens after it has been remote started
-you can use OEM remotes to start the vehicle using any one of the mentioned interface companies. what i would use is a idatalink piece.
-if you wanted anything more than remote starter and or telematics then we would have to install a full compustar remote starter. if not a module will be fine.

-i didnt go to two year old level. i think there is enough info on this thread to cover all the major points

Hello Steve,
Sorry to have posted on your 4runner site, there is not much accurate info on this topic and after about 2 hrs of searching, I found your thread on this. Saying that, I spend about 20min reading all the post in said thread cause I personally hate answering questions that have already been answered. IMHO, there is not enough info in this thread for what I was asking, and why I asked for you to break it down (like I was a 2-year old). I got the feeling perhaps you worked with some of the people in this thread Ad-Hoc and this thread was a high level overview verses the lower, detailed level that I needed.

I worked in the Off Road/Stereo/Alarm industry in the 80's and 90's so I have some knowledge. I even helped start the first "car jacker" solution which forced companies like Clifford to add that to their systems (trying to quantify myself as not a complete buffoon). A lot of solutions you had to make with relay locgic since high tech back then was not very high tech...LOL

One main question I had was the "blade" and as I said before, I tried to search this thread and only found info on a "blade key" for the most part and I got the feeling from one of your replies that blade may be a type of system and did see something like that on the Compustar site that seemed to be a slide in module and didn't know if that is what you were talking about in post #31 of this thread.
All the info I could gather on my own didn't match, in other words if I looked at 4 different sites, I saw 4 different answers. Yours seemed to make most sense and you also have a following for this. Therefore I assumed you were the SME on this and why I asked.

So what I was hoping for was what I needed to buy to make my wife's 2014.5 Camry have the best remote start we can get for it. We had the Avital one-button remote start before (in her 2012 Camry) and it was not exactly what we wanted. Part of that beef was no take over, now thanks to you, I know that no one's system can do that with Toyota's Push-to-start ignition.
Once again, I got the feeling that most worked with you Ad-Hoc and perhaps you even sold equipment.

In closing, I have a VSE Quantum (it's the Pro one) if you know anyone that wants one. Hard to find a buyer for these, but with some people doing retro installs now, I wanted to throw it out there... As well as reference Alpine head unit [7618] with their top of the line changer at the time. Sorry to highjack the thread with this, but hard to find a buyer and you seem like a guy that may have connections.

Let me know if you can help me on this and I can expand on some of my questions.
Thanks for your time, Matt

SME?

No need to be sorry, i'm just joking..its the internet HAHAHA.

Many on here have worked with me only after reading and asking questions on this thread and forum and emails and phone calls! I'm here to help

there are terms used on this thread refering to blade, one is bladed key. a conventional key with a key cylinder is such a bladed key. 4runners have a "smart key" option that has a hidden bladed key but is used on in an emergency thus the regular way to start it is walk up and pusha button inside.

blade can also be referred to with the compustar system, as the product name for the vehicle interface module.

i had a derringer on my 84 rx7 gsl se back in the day and i moved my 7618 and cd changer thru 3 cars.

matt, i think its probably best to just use my email in the signature so more people dont get confused on what we are talking about since it can veer off topic.
