5th gen rear wiper blade
So I replaced my front wipers and thought I would replace my rear wiper blade for the first time in 4 years.
Neither the book at the store, websites online, or the official Toyota parts PDF, indicates the size and type of the rear wiper.
You have to replace the blade only, because the arm is vehicle specific with extra clips/posts on it. The OEM blade insert is 12 inches and the metal guides are contained within the rubber channels with both ends sealed.
I found a replacement insert on the Toyota of Dallas website, but they want $16 plus shipping for it. I bought a Trico 12 wiper for $8 at a local store. I can remove the insert from that, but the ends of the insert are not sealed. When I try to insert it into the 4Runner wiper, the metal guides push out one end.
Has anyone found a good place to buy the OEM insert or do I putsch around more with the Trico insert?

Should be about $8 at msrp. Couple of places have free shipping via Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Wiper-R...ds=85214-42040
Seems it fits just about every Toyota with a rear wiper.

Seems they were once $2 too, I found the part number here 5th Gen Wipers
Slightly annoying that you can't get these just anywhere, good to know. My fronts are starting to streak already.

I bought inserts for front wipers in Toyota dealership at parts department, I guess they should have inserts for rear wiper as well.

And if you never, ever want to replace them again (and spend a good chunk of money doing so), then try looking up your model at SilBlade:
Wiper Blade Size Finder | SilBlade
Had a set on another vehicle, they worked like they were brand new after 5+ years! Never streaked and looked like they were still new after all that time.
Of course, to fit the 4 runner, you'll spend about 50 bucks on Amazon (just look up the part numbers from Silblade's site, don't buy it direct though!) , but you'll never have to replace 'em for many years, and they'll work like they're new every time!
I believe they have a 5 year warranty on them too, so even if they don't last 5 years, just call 'em and they should send you a new set!

Bought a the dealer. He didn't have the one for the 4Runner in stock, but he sold me the one for the Rav4(If I remember) and fit was perfect.

Bought all three from Camelback Toyota in Arizona on-line. Paid a bit for shipping. The Amazon deal looks good.
I replaced the rear insert by stopping the wiper in a vertical position and pulled the end of the blade away from the end of the arm and slid it out.

Just to elaborate, stop the blade by turning the ignition key to off.

That CLICK sound when he was taking the wiper off sounded bad. But it all looks easy enough.

I stopped screwing around with inserts years ago. I just buy the whole assy and get better results. Last time I got the rear blade for my 2013 SR5 in Amazon. Works great. It's a Trico exact fit 12" rear wiper blade fits select Toyota 4Runner 2017 - 2010 Part Number 12-L. $12.90 as of March 2022.

I've had good luck on eBay with a seller named "beachtoyota", Manhattan Beach Toyota in So. California. Better prices than my local dealership and much better customer service.

There are a few sellers on Ebay that are selling the 4 runner wipers and a couple are actual Toyota dealerships. I've found that when you buy all 3 blades combined together it is actually cheaper than the dealer or auto parts store . Some have free shipping.
