Is there a TSB for squeaky seats on the 2014/2015 seats?

I've got the squeak noise that's prevalant on many of the 4th and 5th gen 4 runners. I searched and found 2 TSB's one for felt over the springs and the other for clips under the seat but none for the 2014+ models.

I've got a Trail Premium and when the temperature is under 25F, the seat squeaks when I push into the backrest, lean back, hit a large bump or accelrate. It is the softex covered premium 10way power heated seat. It only does it on the driver's side and not the passenger side.

I want to get it looked at while it's still cold out before it gets too warm and they can't duplicate the sound.

Do you have the seat adjusted all the way back? I get the squeek if I crank back the electric seat too far (I'm 6'4"...). If I ease up on it a tiny bit, the squeek goes away.

not the answer to your question per se, but specific to squeaks another thing to check is the seat belt buckle/receiver. the mechanism in mine was squeaking when buckled and pressures applied to it from strap stretched across your chest. replaced unit, squeak disappeared. took me a long time to figure that one out.

the TSB for the seats was for a popping/creaking and it was really something you could feel in your lower back more than you actually heard it. it felt like the seat-back was crunching under your weight.

play around with your driver's seat belt buckle/receiver. from what you describe i'm guessing that's what's actually causing your squeak.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check those today. It's odd how it goes away when the temps are above 35.

I checked all of those things last night and it still did it. The farther below 32 degrees it got the louder it gets. I'm off today so I have an appt at the dealership. They are giving me a Limited loaner that is the managers demo to use. The service writer said this is the 3rd 2015 to come in for a squeaking seat. All were softex covered power seats in the Premium models. They asked to keep it for 5 hours. The last 2 repairs ended with ordering and replacing the seat.

Did you had any chances to resolving this issue? My new 2015 4Runner does that sound and it's been for 9 days at the dealership now with no resolution..

Shop manager sais he can't order a new seat as they are not listed in the part catalog (need to order it as 250 separate parts, not sure if he's telling me the truth...)

Here is the sound after 9 days of trying to lube and putting felt at some places...

I just bought a pre-owned 2010 with this exact issue and exact same sound as morgie's video. Surprisingly, it made absolutely no sound on the two test drives, and none on the drive home from the dealer last night, but I heard it this morning.

I am obviously way out of warranty, but can someone post the link to the two TSB's for felt over the springs and the other for clips under the seat?

Thanks!

Weird though - when I left for work yesterday @ 8 degrees, the seat creak was non-stop the entire ride. When I went home @ 18 degrees, it couldn't have been quieter. No squeak at all, and believe me I tried to replicate it. Strange.

Yep same here with outside temp, and when it's cold, when the cabin gets warmer and seats heats up, it stops.

I'll have to call back the dealer to make them correct that once and for all...

I'll update the thread with what happened to mine. The dealer found the squeak to be a piece of plastic hitting a metal bracket behind the seatbelt mounting location. The put a piece of foam in for a quick fix but the foam wore through in a week. Tuesday they got the replacement driver's seat in and replaced it. Squeak is gone.

Ok, this morning I got tired of that squeaky noise problem and wasting my time with the dealership so I decided to tackle the problem myself.

I backed the Chevelle up out of her sleep in the heated garage and into the cold. Followed the proper procedure to remove the seat from the truck and began inspection.

I found that the foam of the bottom seat was un-protected at one place and was touching a plastic part in a way that, when moved, created the exact same sound than in the truck. You can ear that in the video :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TKdpPj1uAY

Semi-temporary repair was to isolate that whole area with a piece of cotton rag that I had on hand. I did both sides juste to make sure.

Now the truck is back in the cold, and I'm waiting for tomorrow morning to see if that solved the issue.

I would love to know if there is a solution. It's been very cold here for the last couple of weeks and a squeaky seat on a brand new car is more than annoying.
