Cracked Nav touchscreen on '13 TE

Anyone have any experience/knowledge about replacing the touch screen on a factory nav head unit? I decide to swing the corner of a heavy bag full of ammo around and bust mine out this weekend.

Unit works otherwise - no damage to the pixels underneath, just lost all touch capabilities.

Wondering if it's the type of thing that can easily be swapped out without costing a fortune.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ouch! A better option may be to go aftermarket with the next unit. OEM means $$$

This will be your best bet. You'd have to get a whole OEM nav unit just to get the digitizer off of it, so not going to be worth it.

Sorry for the bad luck!

Has anyone ever tried one of these mail-in radio/nav repair places? I bookmarked a couple in case the nav unit on my 4th gen ever bit the dust.

Example:
Hi-Tech Electronic Services

Still probably not cheap, but less than an OEM replacement. Good luck!

FYI - $400 cash and couple of weeks waiting for the new glass and we're back in business.

Be careful out there...

I have a nav screen in my 2010, sometimes i worry it will go out on me. Please elaborate if you will:

1. Are you getting a new glass from a junkyard?
2. Are you replacing it yourself?
3. Instructions for replacing it?
4. Did you have to send your nav unit out to be fixed or just ordered a new glass?

guess i would like you to share more of the solution because that sounds cheap (compared to the 3-4k people have been quoted for new nav units on here) and let us know the quality of the repair to see if it is worth it.

Mine is broken too...$400 doesn't sound too bad, compared to a whole new unit. Can you share how you did that?
