front/rear bumper valance

ive looked and ive looked. Ive only seen one thread regarding the removal of the front bumper valance. I currently am on the last 4 clips of the front valance and i cannot for the life of me remove them. Anyone have a more specific tutorial/video on how to pop these clips off? or someone with knowledge or prior experience have a technique that worked for them?

ALSO, nothing very detailed about the removal of the rear bumper accent as well. I am trying to plasti dip both front and back.... actually already dipped rear but did not like how it came out, so this time i'd like to just remove and dip.

please advise! anything i would be grateful.

sorry can't help you out. I have taken both off and everything was pretty obvious (from what I can remember). I used the repair manual as a guide. It can be downloaded from one of the stickies.

Do a few searches. I think there are also some threads that outline the basics.

They come painted silver. I had the dealer verify before I pulled them off and had them painted flat black.

Installed. I took both front and rear covers off after trying to reach in to get to the clips. It was not hard or complicated. Removal was pretty obvious and I only needed help while removing the wires from the fogs.

I think it looks great and well worth the money and a couple hours work.

Fubar - the bumpers look great! I know you mentioned the valance came black, but did you also paint the valances to match your Black trail? I'm not a big fan of painting plastic especially in the fron where rocks and such will most likely chip it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

They are kind of a semi-gloss black and do not exactly match the Attitude Black paint. Still looks great tho...

I filled in the holes with some body filler and sanded it down. Then I just masked it while on the truck and plasti-dipped it. I don't think it's really necessary to take the valence off unless your taking it somewhere to get painted.

Do you know if these piences just clip over the SR5 bumpers, or do the Trail & TRD Pro have holes drilled for the clips? Thanks.

You would have to cut slots in the bumper cover. Here's my rear bumper after the cover was torn off in an off roading mishap. You will have to have similar holes in the front.

Trail and Pro have slots pre-cut

Rotozip or a Dremel with that style bit would do it. But you would need to be really careful. I intend to eventually put mine back on there. The tabs were all broken off, so I am planning to use four or six 1/4 x 20 button head screws and self locking nuts over fender washers. If I space em right it'll look like I have a set of faux proximity sensors back there.
