On a side note if anyone in portland area is ordering the kit you can have my relocation kit for free. Just pm me. Not gonna ship.

It wouldn't do much good unfortunately.
I'm not using the brackets since I have a 2010 and have no idea where they are relocating the pump too. This has been out for awhile on the FJs I'd check online for a pic from them. The instructions I received were near useless and had nothing about the relocation stuff. My impression from the tubing is that it's moving to the rear of the airbox. But seriously a pic of the uninstalled brackets will make no sent whatsoever. They are just 2 small pieces of heavy gauge sheet metal with slots, and a tube... I could bolt them almost anywhere.

it would appear from
@ Swarty
that they arnt including my installation instructions, if for some reason someone doesnt like the format of the first page - i have a PDF copy id be happy to email to anyone who wants it.
as far as the air pump relocation goes, as far as i know it just flips it around near the same place it is stock.

Yeah they included instructions for some older steel design but then sent extra pictures of the current design but they didn't show the disassembly of the old bottle or all of the details required for the new one like moving the wiring harness to the headlights.

The complaint is directed specifically at the idea that it takes up the place that a aux battery would use if you wanted to go that rout. Sure, it does - but you can't put an aux battery there on 2013+ models as there is an air injection pump there. That was my point, so you should draft your research and development complaint to toyota, not the aftermarket. Additionally, they're developing a kit that neatly relocates the 13+ air injection pump so that everything neatly and compactly fits behind the passenger headlight assembly.
Further beyond that, placing the washer reservoir all the way in the back behind the airbox negates a primary engineering point of the kit, which was an OEM type solution, that doesn't require modification or extension of the wiring harness and hose lines.
So pick your poison. Do you want the $300 shrockworks kit that holds 1/2 gallon of fluid, requires harness modification and hose extensions, and is opaque? Or do you want the $180 option that retains OEM reliability and durability, and increases your capacity to 2 gallons?
Sounds like someone did some research and development.
|
I realize that this is an old thread, but I just wanted to clear up some inaccuracies about the shrockworks washer kit for posterity.
- The washer tank holds just under 1 Gallon of fluid which in my experience is more than enough for just about any offroad adventure.
- There is no modification of the stock harness required. The kit comes with an extension that uses factory connectors and is completely plug and play.
- There are no hose extensions required. They are actually shorter since you tie into them at the firewall where they enter the engine bay. There are existing hose barbs in the factory lines at this location that you simply disconnect.
- Yes the tank is opaque, but there is a clear sight tube on the side that makes for an easy visual indication of the fluid level.
- The tank is more expensive because it is TIG welded aluminum with an anodized cap vs. plastic. I don't see how a plastic tank achieves higher reliability or longevity. I would think the opposite.
And lastly, an air pump relocation kit is available that piggy-backs off the mounting bracket for the tank. This allows those that want to run a dual battery kit in the desirable front location to do so while also relocating their washer fluid reservoir and emissions pump.

14+ E1 Relocation + Hefty Fab ARB Compressor Mount
good morning t4r.
looking for some help on running the E1 washer relocate on a 13-14+ where the pump relocation bracket is required in conjunction with a passenger side compressor mount (specific hefty fabs, but any input is welcome). not a lot of good info/pics available of how/where this mounts and how much space it takes up.
trucks at a shop and the guy says doesn't look like they both will fit together. rather not pay to get him started on it if it's going to fail.
has anyone run this kit with a passenger side compressor mount and could offer some info or pics? or pics of the pump relocation bracket installed?
anyone recall the brand of passenger side mount that orients the compressor vertically?
thanks!

I run the EXPO One washer bottle. I relocated the air pump without anything special under my air compressor on back side. I used a compressor bracket made by BANDI here on the forums. ANd I am using the Genesis Dual Battery setup in the stock location.

Thank you for this explanation. I too was trying to figure out how to mount a dual battery, dual compressor, and relo the washer reservoir. Your a gentleman and a scholar.

Hey man!
Just did the clearance chop on my bumper and am now frantically trying to find a solution for the washer bottle... and stumbled upon your post.
I have a 2021 4Runner Off-Road, and I believe it has the air pump your talking about. Can I ask how you relocated it?
Cheers

just buy a water reservoir skid from SSO or c4 and paint the bottle black.

Find a universal washer reservoir and pump that you like on Amazon and install it? Mine was $21.
