TRD Skid fitting on 2010-2013? 14+ limited? 14+ w/ KDSS?

•Made from stamped and formed 1/4-in.-thick silver powder-coated aluminum
•Skid plate won’t interfere with or block the cooling system, while providing cut outs for unobstructed access to all maintenance points and vehicle tow hooks
•Engineered to help prevent vibration stress and noise issues while ensuring no compromises to vehicle performance systems
•Easy, no-drill installation uses vehicle’s existing attachment mounts
1/4" Aluminum Functional Skid Plate.
Powder Coated in Silver with TRD logo.
This is a REAL skid plate!
4runners:
This skid plate conflicts with the KDSS sway bar system.
This part fits the following vehicles:
Toyota: 4Runner 2014 - 2015
Toyota: FJ Cruiser 2010 - 2014
|
According to official documentation and installation instruction, the skid plate is ONLY for 4Runner 2014+ without KDSS.
I have a few questions (actually questions that I was being asked):
1) does it fit 2014+ limited? if so, do anyone of you have an underside picture?
2) what exactly is interfering with the KDSS? any pictures? Is there modification that can be made for it to "fit"?
3) does it fit 2010-2013? if not, is there any modification one can do to make it fit? I suspect that the same mounting points exist on 2010-2013..... slightly modifying the bumper?

Relevant to my interests
I'm wondering if the part fits when you remove the front air dam

The KDSS front sway bar sits a few inches lower than the others and will articulate.

Here is a photo of a trail, pre-production T4R with KDSS.
They were obviously modified to fit, but didn't want to have 2 different skids for the end user.
One could probably modify (cut) the skid to fit.
Can't answer if it will fit a limited or not, maybe someone else can chime in.....

So, I guess, this is the part that will interfere.
And for
@ Saker
's picture, modification to the skid is likely to be possible to make it fit! Someone here just need to be the FIRST to attempt such mod, and go down in history as legendary!

That is correct. The standard sway bar is "rigid" attached to the frame at the top of that red box.

I'm pretty sure I've actually read about a few people fitting these to KDSS equipped 4Runners already... you just have to cut it a bit to allow room. Shouldn't be hard from what I can tell. Don't think there will be much legend status ha. Just a new skid plate with a few cuts

Pre-production TRD pro (with KDSS), KDSS-wise, exactly the same as TRAIL EDITION:
Production TRD pro (without KDSS), can't figure out why they leave out KDSS from the "pro":
Between these 2 pictures, one can probably figure out what to mod on the TRD Skid plate to make it work!
VERY COOL, team!!
Now, how about..... 2010-2013? 2014+ LE?

@ jicko
,
May need to look up part #'s for the OEM skid plates for say the SR5's and the Trails in the year models you mentioned, compare to the LE's and see if they are the same part #'s!

Why not get a much better aftermarket skid plate that fits without modification, for probably less money?

Yes, I would also like to know this as I have the same set up as you. Also, does anybody know how much this cost?
