How much will my new lift settle? Bilstein 5100 +Toytec/SAW Coils....

Today my brother and I put the lift on my 2015 TEP w/KDSS. Overall the process was very straight forward and actually significantly easier than I anticipated. Took us about 4 hours of actual working. Special thank you to eddiebx and sp8ball on their awesome write-ups. They were very helpful and boosted confidence.

For my lift I decided on the Bilstein 5100's with Toytec 112-620 1.6" springs. I set the Bilsteins on the 2nd row (+.85") and then in the rear 5100's with Sway-A-Way 1.5" Eibach springs. This is all pretty common stuff around here.

On a side note, we added a 1/4" poly top plate spacer on the passenger side which yielded WAY too much "extra" lift on that side. We promptly removed it. The numbers you see below are without any spacers.

Now, the engineer in me assumed that I'd get about 2.5+ of lift up front (1.6+.85) and around 1.5" in the rear. I understand there's tolerances and vehicle differences but I got a lot more than that! Why? How much will these settle? I find it hard to believe more than a half inch at best but would like the feedback. Also, do people wait for the lift to settle before getting an alignment or do it asap?

Here you can see the 5100's on the second ring.

Pictures of the springs in comparison. (Fronts are about 1" higher than stock)

Final Results

Great news is its a significant improvement over stock. Small and large bump absorption, nearly no brake dive. Very happy with the results.
Thanks everyone!

Part of your extra boost in the front may be due to the extra spring rate of the Toytec springs (620). I want to say I read somewhere in here that front factory springs are rated at 590 or so. I also had alignments done on the same day both times I had front suspension work done. I didn't wait for anything to settle, and actually haven't seen any measurable settling.

If the front is sitting appreciably higher than you hoped you might drop the spring retainer back to the 0 position. Thats what I did when I installed the 2" OME 885s in mine. That should restore your rake to closer to factory and even out the lift if that's what you were looking for.

I think it looks fine, but if you leave it that way, don't forget to reset your headlights to allow for the higher nose.

I would wait and see what happens when you put your larger wheels and tires on. They will have more "leverage" on the suspension and will slightly change ride height. Get the alignment with the new wheels and tires on it.

Looks good, now you need to fill the extra space in the wheel wells.

I'm interested to see how the alignment goes. Wondering if aftermarket UCA's are needed? Looks like you got about a 2.5" lift. I think it looks great. Good job man

Me too! I was going to buy uca but didn't as I was under the impression with the amount of lift that I was "planning" they wouldn't be required. Now I am a little concerned. Would have been optimal to do it all at once. We'll see how it goes. If it needs them I'll put them on.

Keep us up to date. I'm looking to do the same exact lift as you and I was hoping not to have to upgrade the UCA's either. If they're really needed, I would like to install them at the same time as the Brillstein's and coils to save time. Keith, thanks for the post. Good luck with the alignment!

My alignment spec with 2.5" lift

When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

Looks good Magnetic. Answers my question. I want to go for a 2-2.5 inch lift and really want to keep my stock UCA's. Looks like you achieved this successfully. Any word of advise before attempting the lift myself? Thanks again

Magnetic4R - I didn't go through the whole thread to see what notch you had your 6112's at but what was your actual measured lift amount over stock? Just want to make sure we're talking apples-to-apples since I am obviously greater than 2.5".

Pretty straight forward for your trail. Since mine was the Limited, it require the removal of the Xreas and with all 4 corners up in the air. The front was the easiest. As for the rear coil, using the factory bottle jack to remove the coils helps alot. Getting the front coil compress took some time too. If you have a nearby shop that can compress for you, it would save you time and scratches to the front coil. my didn't have enough clearance with my spring compressor.

I set it on the 4th notch yielding a ~2.5-2.6" lift

After 75 miles of driving (hitting speed bumps like Ivan Stewart! Making sure there's no odd noises and working it the best I can in suburbia) and 28 hours it has settled about 1/2" in the front. I am now at about 3" of lift from the setup on the front. Rear is holding firm with nearly no settle. Having some rake today is fine by me as I will be adding some permanent weight to the rear of the truck later this week. Tires tomorrow...

Tires added 1" of lift to the "Floor to Fender" measurements from yesterday.

255/75/15 ST Maxx. No wheel spacers. Zero Rub anywhere.
